Telecommunications Designer
Spectra Engineering Ltd. – Toronto, ON
Will work under the direction of a Principal-Electrical, the Telecommunications Designer will be responsible for electrical design of commercial, institutional and industrial projects.
Spectra is a Canadian engineering firm based in southern Ontario. We are looking for an individual looking for challenge, responsibility and exposure in building services ready to join a dynamic and expanding firm. Candidates roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

General Duties:

  • Working with and preparation of detailed diagrams, plans, drawings, reports and presentations
  • Coordinating, assessing and organizing the work of the various projects
  • Using computer-aided design (CAD) software and other resources to design the systems required for the various projects
  • Liaising closely with other professionals, including architects, structural engineers, contractors, builders, and surveyors
  • Attend a range of project, group and technical meetings
  • Promoting energy efficiency and other sustainability initiatives
  • Review design compliance with relevant Codes and Standards

  • Strong technical drawing skills
  • Familiarity with industry-specific software
  • Strong communication skills through correspondence, verbal and interpersonal interaction


  • RCDD certification is required
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in the Engineering Consulting industry with experience in electrical, telecom, data, audiovisual, security and related low-voltage distribution schemes inside buildings and related fields such as building automation, mass notification, fire/life safety or cable TV
  • Familiarity with municipal and provincial Safety Codes and Authorities
  • Knowledge of drafting practices
  • AutoCAD, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel experience with current releases (3 to 5 years preferred)
