Intense work environment, enjoyable experience dealing with patients.
Hostess (Current Employee), Waterbury, CT – June 6, 2013
A typical day at work for a hostess with Sodexo deals with setting up meals for patients and taking care of their nutritious needs. It is enjoyable to tend to patients needs and be a part of helping them gain a positive experience during their admission for recovery. Working with co works was satisfying due to the fact that we all had the common goal – more... to provide and create positive energy. The hardest part of the job is dealing with management, overall they can be very rude, unorganized and pestering. – less

look for a better choice
production (Former Employee), nv – June 5, 2013
Pros: nothing
Cons: discrimination.... red tape....good old boy network.....no accountability...
This is a OK place to gain some experience.... but get out when you can ...they have more law suits for discrimination than any of the top contract food providers..... they will wow you ....but look to ax you when they can and go for cheaper labor ...... you don't deserve to make money ......real big good old boy network in place for decades.....they – more... are most unethical ....like many others ....they just look nicer .....pass them by for true growth ......they also stop many from advancing up the ranks ....jobs that are kept by old men..that are juiced in....even when they dont produce ..,..just goggle them and see for yourself. . . – less

Sodexo Food Service
Sodexo food service (Former Employee), Northfield, VT – May 31, 2013
Pros: free breakfast and lunch
Cons: medical benefits were not the greastest
I would go into work at 7a.m. and set up and prep salad bar for the day. Then I would do prep work for the Snack Bar cooking the meals and Package up the food that I did cook for them. I worked independently by myself. I knew what needed to get the job done. I would also help make the soups, sauces and meals that feed the military collage students. – more... 'worked close with others co-workers tell them what they needed to do and guide them if needed. I found the job to be enjoyable and liked my co-workers. I love cooking and baking. I have done this most of my life. I have worked cooking since I was 8 years old, I worked for my Uncle when he had a restaurant of him own. I really cooking and baking. – less

Challenging work environment, training of many employees a must.
Supervisor (Current Employee), Denver, CO – May 30, 2013
Pros: free meals and healthcare with a set schedule.
Cons: limited breaks and late hours.
I am in charge of the ordering and must maintain the food cost for the restaurant. I am also in charge of the continual training of the staff. I must maintain a safe and sanitary work environment by overseeing the staff and ensuring they practice safe and sanitary work practices. The most challenging part of my job has been the re-training of employees – more... stuck in bad habits. Re-training to combat bad work practices takes time and discipline and must be addressed on a daily basis. The most enjoyable part of my job is when, at the end of the day, the work is accomplished in a efficient manner and everyone is pleased with the results. – less

up-to-date on protocol yet lacking in management enforcement
Dishwasher/Food Prep (Former Employee), Erie, PA – May 29, 2013
Pros: free food
Cons: poor management
During my time working for this company there were many changes in procedure to keep up to codes. I was able to learn more about better health and safety in the kitchen and correct procedures to keep employees and customers safe and healthy. However, due to poor management much of this information was lost because management was lax. Many things weren't – more... explained in my training and I had to find out correct procedure by trial and error, if at all. I did enjoy the environment and they did recognize hard work at this facility. – less
