love to work with the public
Financial Administrator (Former Employee), Calgary, ABJuly 30, 2012
Pros: it was in a hospital setting
Cons: i wish i had more training to learn the ropes
A typical day was to arrive at work, close the door and do all the payroll and accounting for the business. I learned a lot from this job especially since the lady that trained me did not speak much English and she was very pregnant so she was at the doctors most of the time. Much of the job was self taught. I was very busy so I did not get to know – more... my co-workers as well as I would have like to. – less

Pros: all the people, as well as learning alot
Cons: the management
I was a cashier, handled lots of money. Very fast paced environment.
Also, was in a tim hortons working, also very fast paced. No stopping for 5 hours at a time. Hardest part of the job would be the management.

Decisions take place behind doors
Facility Operations Manager (Former Employee), Toronto, ONMay 21, 2012
Cons: too much work load, no support from management, politics, decisions behind close doors, no career growth
I once heard a comment that "I'm being left alone by Sodexo in front of a herd of wolves". I guess this clearly defines their methodology and the way they deal with the situation. Less said is better.

Co workers are also not cooperative and are back biters, may be because they are saving their jobs by playing dirty games. I'm glad that I made a decision.

IslandOfOne – May 25, 2012

I was hired for a position that far exceeded my knowledge base because I was the "best candidate", I was told "you won't be left out there on an island...we will be there for you...we know we are throwing an unimagineable amount at you and we don't expect you to grasp it all right away". And there I was alone on my island. PS- they still owe me over $1000!

EthicsFirst – May 30, 2012

Thank you for seconding me. They also didn't give me my dues initially by saying that I'd consumed all of my vacations, however when I submitted proofs and did follow ups, they then realized it and had to pay them. This shows where their norms and ethical values are! For them it should be Ethics First.

Fun work place
Food Service Worker II (Former Employee), Troy, NYJuly 18, 2014
Pros: free lunches
Cons: lil to short breaks
A typical day at work was very busy Monday thru Friday. I was the grill cook from 10:30am-2pm and cashier and closing from 2:15pm-6:pm. During this job I learned how to better my time management, communicate between the chefs from the other building and building manager. My co-workers taught me a lot. They taught me how to do my job efficitanly and – more... to communicate with the customers better and to enjoy work. There really was no hard part about my job. The most enjoyable part of the job is customer feed back because I loved knowing how much they enjoyed the food I prepared for them and also the critiques from them on what I couldof done better if there was anything wrong. – less

Co Workers Are Horrible on Night shift.
Dietary Aide (Current Employee), Canton, MIJuly 16, 2014
The job is fun and a productive environment when your working with productive people. You do not have enough time to get things done. Manager is there sometimes. If you are hired here at this location, just keep to yourself to stay away from any gossip.

Pizza Maker (Current Employee), Tahlequah, OKJuly 11, 2014
Pros: one meal for 6 hours working
Cons: nothing
I feel so happy when I work there. that is my first job in America. My managers encourage me a lot. At the beginning of the job, I am afraid of my language that affect me working well. I don't know how to say the topping or ingredients in English. My co-workers are very nice to me. Honestly, I want to work in that company forever, I want this job is – more... my first one and last one in my whole life. however, they may not provide a working H1B visa for a foreigner. – less

Working for Sodexo was an absolute horror
Retail Assistant for Military Store (Former Employee), Dishforth, ENGJuly 10, 2014
Pros: no pros
Cons: no support from management or other staff members, no notice for events you were just expected to work them the day you found out, impossible to get anything you actually needed
Working for Sodexo was an absolute horror of a time, the work came in small quick bursts at best there was no continuity no stable base of work no communication and minimal training at best. anything you did learn you had to find out by yourself through trial and error becuase most of the time managers couldn't be found to help. the staff were only – more... ever in the job for them selves and would do anything and everything to trip up the other employee's just to make themselves looked good. – less
