they don't care about the people
Housekeeper (Former Employee), Abbotsford, BC – April 13, 2013
Pros: .
Cons: pay is ok, but not good enough for the amount of work. not full time. no benefits. overall, 2 thumbs down.
Sodexo is a huge company and the focus is on making money. They get by on as few staff as possible, then get mad when everything isn't perfect! the work load is not reasonable, and even management doesn't try to deny this. when you complain about being overworked they tell you "I know you can't do everything, so you need to prioritize". then when everything – more... isn't done you get written up! I worked in a hospital in housekeeping, and with this company and their values in place I hope i never get sick. – less

fun, hard work, good atmosphere
Kitchen Hand / Utilities (Former Employee), Western Australia, Australia – January 23, 2013
Pros: free accomadation, shifts/ hours, food, gym and good workers
Cons: being away from friends and family constaintly, people trying to get you to go to the bar, hours after doing 2 weeks straight
what i did in a typical day was to change about 20-30 room,
i would go doubble check my trolly make sure it was stacked correctly, make sure i have the right chamicals, then i would go get my list of rooms from the manager, would start at the furthest room away then change the beds making sure all 3 points were clear to do so then i would dust the room, – more... turn off all eletric powerpoints except the fridge and check if all cords were in date, would check filters of air conditioners, then i would go dust, i would then move on to the bathroom using 3 different types of cloths do the basin (infront, middle and behind) then do the shower (scrubbing the sides, walls and tops of the shower) then the toilet (behind, middle and infront) and mirrors, if any marks on the wall clean them up to and then either vaccum or sweep the floor depending on what surface it was.i If it was a quiet day would do windows as well.
i learnt how to get quicker and what chemicals to use on what sections, how to take fly screens out without breaking them.
time management was essentional, worked well with others changing half way from beds to bathrooms so that its fair!
hardest part is that after doing it without warming up back problems are more likely to appear.
to challange myself to see how i can improve my work and to have fun while doing it – less

UNIT MANAGER (Current Employee), Riyadh, S01 – December 23, 2012
Pros: over-time
Cons: tiredness
So many days will be typical, and its a part of job and if we take it in a positive manner than we will come out with a solution.
Every operational area have a different and a significant things to learn, first i have learned ; how to be a part of team. We measures our colleges in different - different criteria, but its easy and at the same time its – more... tough to understand the co-workers! Few things are pretty enough to solve if we come through proper channel but because of ego we feel rather to be get embarrassed in front of the boss, its pretty hard part of the job. Every moment you share and try to learn something it is most exited and enjoyable part of the job. – less

Financial Administrator (Former Employee), Calgary, AB – July 30, 2012
Pros: it was in a hospital setting
Cons: i wish i had more training to learn the ropes
A typical day was to arrive at work, close the door and do all the payroll and accounting for the business. I learned a lot from this job especially since the lady that trained me did not speak much English and she was very pregnant so she was at the doctors most of the time. Much of the job was self taught. I was very busy so I did not get to know – more... my co-workers as well as I would have like to. – less
