Bakery Clerk (Former Employee) – Saskatoon, SK – 14 October 2017
Sobeys is an alright place to work with pretty good benefits if you're a full time employee or work there for longer than 6 months. I personally enjoyed the products we made in the bakery and was excited to try new things whenever they were introduced to our shelves.
Sobeys is a innovative organization with a focus on providing great customer service, a broad assortment at competitive prices.

Managers try their best and try to implement company policies as much as possible. You get really bored and not get a lot of opportunities to interact with coworkers. Customers can get rude and are very picky with how they want their bags packed, etc.
The biggest con is that you get no discount or any perks for working there. Really makes you wonder why you're even working there, you could literally work anywhere else that has more benefits. Hours vary a lot, you could get 4 hour to 8 hour shifts in the same week. The amount of hours you get are very inconsistent. One week you get 28 hours and the next week you get 10 hours?? This without having changed my availability or anything. I have also noticed that they give all the hours to the new people and by the 3rd month i am here, I am no longer getting as much hours as before.
It is not that bad though, it rarely gets too busy and you get paid.
its a job
no discount, inconsistent amount of hours per week
Deli Clerk (Former Employee) – Oshawa, ON – 7 October 2017
It is a great place to work the customers are very understanding for new beginners, the staff is very good at teaching and management is great with a couple draw back with hours but other than that sobeys is a great place to work at
Management try to make work fun! Meet new people every day. most enjoyable part of job is interacting with the customers. the hardest part of the job would be twisting of the torso to scan groceries. it takes a toll on the lower back!
Cake Decorating & food prep/packaging (Former Employee) – Saint John, NB – 4 October 2017
I really liked working at Sobeys in the Bakery. I was a cake decorator & baked good packager. The only thing I didn't like was the hours. I started out getting almost 30 hours a week & when I left I was only getting 15 hours a week. Other than that, it was great.
