If successful, you will have demonstrated yourself to be a self-motivated, independent individual with excellent time management skills, and an unquenchable thirst for expanding your agronomy knowledge. A related post-secondary education or Certified Crop Advisor (CCA) training, is preferred but on-farm and agricultural hands-on experience is never discounted.
You will be given the autonomy to complete your tasks as assigned. Reporting to the Production Manager directly, your immediate key responsibilities will include:
- Pre-seed, in crop, and pre/post-harvest field scouting and related crop protection recommendations
- Coordination of field operations with other managers during full production schedule
- Completion of soil and tissue testing for management zones and related fertility recommendations
- Crop rotation recommendations
- Maintaining and building business relationships with suppliers, customers, and business partners
- Representing business at meetings, seminars, field days, and Agri-Coach functions
Experience in forecasting, tendering, and managing purchases of crop protection and fertilizer supplies to maximize supplier rebate programs would be preferred. This position will be encouraged to research, calculate, and select seed varieties for each crop and negotiate purchases from suppliers.
