About Small Business BC

Small Business BC exists so that people who start or have a business in BC have the relevant information, appropriate tools and resources they need to achieve a successful and sustainable business. We are British Columbia's premiere resource centre for knowledge-based business products and services.

Primary Function

To deliver high quality customer service and sales to the clients of Small Business BC.

Job Duties and Tasks

1. Provide front-line counter, telephone and email customer service and sales to clients of the Society;

2. Contribute to the daily operational aspects of the Society’s Education Centre, ensuring seamless client services

3. Provide administrative assistance for Client Services & Education Centre staff

4. Participate in client services team activities

5. Client Relationship Management

6. Other related duties

Selection Criteria


A degree or diploma in Sales and Marketing, Business Management, Small Business and Entrepreneurship, or Commerce, and extensive Retail or Customer Service experience, or an equivalent blend of education and business related experience.


-Experience in business administration, sales and/or customer service;
-Experience in maintaining and coordinating schedules and appointments;
-Demonstrated experience working at a colleague working level with professional groups, government agencies, special interest groups and service providers;
-Experience with working in an executive office environment and managing sensitive issues with tact, diplomacy and good judgment.


- Knowledge of client services expectations in the current business environment.
-Understanding of effective sales procedures.
-General knowledge of a wide variety of business subjects.
-Entrepreneurial mindset.

-Strong computer skills in MS Office 2010, P.O.S, Outlook, CRM, Registrations Systems.
-Ability to work in a second language is considered an asset.
-Excellent knowledge of general office procedures and practices.
-Ability to handle confidential material and information with discretion.
-Ability to adapt to changing office environments and assignment levels.
-Ability to exercise mature judgment and initiative.
