Job summary
Singspiel is an energetic Toronto-based start-up designing software to help the musical education community. Our current project is trying to solve one of the age old problems in music education: How to make practicing fun?

This position is for a developer that will be part of software team designing cross-platform software to allow musicians to keep track of their performance during practice as well as share musical knowledge on the integrated social networking platform.

Job responsibilities
The successful candidate will join the Singspiel team and have a lead role in the development of the software. Design decisions as well as coding tasks will be the responsibility of the candidate. The developer will gain substantial experience in cross-platform Java development and be exposed to music technologies such as MIDI. Collaboration with UI designers may also occur over the course of the term.

Required skills

  • Extensive Java development experience
  • Practical music knowledge, highly preferable
  • Software patterns: MVC, Strategy, among others
  • Distributed version control: Git, Mercurial
  • Java FX experience preferable
  • HTML and CSS experience preferable
