The Process Machanic's prime responsability is the maintenance, repair, and continuously improvement of all process machinery and systems, in a safe efficient manner. The elimination of breakdowns is of prime importance. The process mechanic will report to and provide a daily summary of work to the Maintenance Supervisor/Manager and will be assigned work by the maintenance planner as needed. This position has a requirement to do some overtime when requested. The mechanic will be an active member of the maintenance team. This job does not directly supervise anyone, but may indirectly supervise an apprentice millwright on an infrequent basis.
-Preforms complex work assignments in the discipline with normal supervison
-Performs routin work assignments in the following disciplines:
a) Angelus Seamer set up and adjustment
b) Elmar/PRC Filler set up and adjustment
c) Kitchen, mixing and process equipment
d) Grinding and pumping equipment
-Proactively preforms troubleshooting techniques in a logical manner on all equipment including pneumatic, hydraulic and utility systems
-Prepares work orders using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS)
-Responsible for the Preventative Maintenance (PM) of all process equipment
-Actively supports the PdM function where applicable
-Maintains all maintenance workshop equipment
-Sources and prepares parts from stores for use in all repairs, W/O and PM's
-Can prepare basic dimensioned sketches
-Reads and understands technical bulletins, manuals, instructions and blueprints
-Preforms all daily, weekly, monthly and annual maintenance PM's
-Participate in all maintenance team meetings
-Communicate and train production staff on mechanical hazards and techniques in maintenance when reqired.
-This position also requires the candidate to be cross trained as a high speed packaging mechanic. All members of the maintenance team are required to participate in mechanical line changeovers to run several product offerings.
