Canada Post Department Manager (Former Employee), CA – April 25, 2015
• I learned a lot about how a business is run and what is required in a managerial/supervisory position. • The management was extremely helpful and assisted most in their professional success. • My co-workers were fun to work with and found a support with them in dealing with customers. • The most difficult aspect of my role with this company was finding how to properly handle difficult customers. • The most enjoyable part of the job was that I was able to interact with different people and make a positive impact on their day.
Assistant Store Manager (Current Employee), Fergus, On – February 26, 2015
A typical day is very busy, pulled in many directions. I have learn how to deal with each issue as it arises. I manage employees to reach their personal best while at the same time following the needs of the day. I have great co-workers. Some need more attention that other. Some only want me to listen to them. I'm there for each and everyone of them. I support them and encourage them daily. the hardest part of my job sometimes is to keep everyone calm on busy days. Dealing with customers can be hard for anyone. For a cashier who is young with little experience it can be a nightmare. I am there for support and to take over if need be. The best part of my job is when the elderly come in to shop. They can be so sweet. Sometimes they just want to talk. Other times they need a hug or have come in to tell me that someone in their family has past away; again a hug. I love it when an employee I have not seen in a few shifts says "I have missed you". It makes my day when an employee bakes me a treat or hugs me because they are happy to be working with me. I get great joy when I can make someone laugh. Their happiness is important to me.
I enjoyed my time being at Shoppers Drug Mart. I felt right at home working with the other employees. the supervisor was understanding and really helpful with making me feel comfortable with the work.A typical day at work would consist of me helping customers find items, cleaning and restocking shelves, relabeling and etc
Cosmetics (Former Employee), Brampton, ON – February 16, 2015
Pros: 30% discount
Cons: work on holidays, pay sucks
I enjoyed working at Shoppers. I learned a lot especially with customer service. I met a lot of good people in the work place. The things I felt that the company needed to work on was management.. Lack of communication was a big one and alot of it was "favoritism" with employees. The hours were okay but the pay sucks especially when you've been with the company for so long and you don't get a raise... Their is no growth within the company at all.
Pharmacist Assistance (Former Employee), Abbotsford, BC – February 15, 2015
It was a remarkable experience for a first job. Co-workers were very helpful, and always gave a demonstration of a task if it was unfamiliar to me. Helped me learn many skills such as stoking, inventory, helping guests
Amazing work environment. Friendly co-workers. Job security.
MERCHANDISER (Former Employee), Mississauga, ON – February 15, 2015
Pros: clean and desirable working environment. good job security. diverse culture.
Cons: almost no advancements
As a merchandiser I was responsible to restock and organize the shelves. I learned how to work more efficiently and quickly. I could easily ask for assistance from my co-workers if I have any issues. The job is rather simple and easy after training. My duties were all fairly enjoyable. Management also seems to be very well organized.
