Currently, I work at the Chesterbrook Site, Shire Pharmaceutical has gone through and continues to go through through a period of transition and downsizing in 2013-2014.
Managing a team of 10, during a time of transition has actually been a period of developmental growth. Although sometimes challenging, the team depends on me for consistency, communication, and process control.
As you can imagine, a downsizing can be particularly worrisome for everybody that may be impacted and the unknown. Handling the stress of such an event takes a particular skill at being positive. Some days were quite taxing and other days very exciting as news of the organization would become transparent to the employees of Shire. Managing co-workers feelings on a day-to-day basis proved to be challenging during this time. But determinationm, staying focused and positive kept me going.
