Job Description
Production Manager

Position Brief
Shearwater Research requires a Production Manager for a light assembly manufacturing facility. The position will be responsible for leading a small and efficient production team. The operation may be small in size, but processes can be complicated and quality requirements are very stringent. It is expected that a significant portion of the production managers time will be devoted to process improvement. Other responsibilities include production scheduling and personnel management.

The ideal candidate for this position would have some amount of production management experience in a small to medium sized assembly environment. Alternatively, the candidate may not have held the role of production manger, but has had some manufacturing supervisory experience.

Duties and Responsibilities
-Plan, organize and direct the manufacturing and maintenance operations to ensure the most effective return on assets.
-Maintain good housekeeping in all areas.
-Initiate plans and processes which minimize manufacturing costs through effective utilization of manpower, equipment, facilities, materials, and capital. Assure attainment of business objectives and production schedules while ensuring product standards that will exceed our customers' expectations.
-Implement manufacturing strategies and action plans to ensure that the facility supports the company's strategic initiatives.
-Establish company and individual assignments for problem solving and cost reduction. Encourage use of new techniques and focus and on fact based problem solving.
-Improve manpower use within existing processes. Create schedule stability that allows for maximum return.
-Continually improve safety record by addressing both physical safety issues and employee safety attitudes.
-Maintain individual skills up to date with the latest production standards.

Completed post-secondary education or equivalent (2yr diploma)

-Experience implementing Lean Manufacturing practices a large asset

-Production Management experience an asset
-ISO 9001 company experience
