Overall good workplace.
CATV Service Technician (Former Employee) –  Kelowna, BC17 October 2017
The Shaw environment was basically supportive and positive. However, there is no independent way to settle a grievance without going to a government agency.
Pros
My work was out in the field and away from the office.
Cons
Uneven treatment of employee compensation and pay scales. No bargaining unit.

Shaw truly lets you have a good balance of work and play. They are quite accommodating especially when it comes to family. They are also very flexible with their work hours.

Nice people, horrible management
Technical Service representative (Full-time) (Current Employee) –  Winnipeg, MB8 October 2017
Great place to work.. for a short time. My supervisor agrees that Shaw does very little to encourage their employees to stick around and as a result has a very high turn over rate. It's a great job if you're an immigrant to Canada, and not trying to pull the race card or anything either but you'd be getting stiffed working here. For all the caucasians and many in the same boat.. you'll hit you pay ceiling, they'll cut bonuses and do anything to make you leave cause you obviously cost them too much as an employee.

Much of the management simply hasn't grown from a man-child like attitude. They're super unappreciative with their staff and metrics are much more important than customer service, and it shows.
Pros
Benefits, "Stable" Job
Cons
Horrible hours, Even worse Management

Its good as a part-time job for students n people who like sitting n taking calls.
Customer Solutions Expert (Former Employee) –  Vancouver, BC4 October 2017
Its good experience, few make good money. If it suits you to sit down at one place n take calls it is not a bad choice. As a career its not easy to move up the ladder.
Pros
simple work
Cons
repititive, sitting job

typical day of work is talking to customers from difference provinces and helping out the service issues or scheduling out technicians to be dispatched to assist customer. hardest part of the job is that you have to have a lot of patience and understanding.

Every department is basically the same
Customer Service Representative (Former Employee) –  Winnipeg, MB8 September 2017
Not an enjoyable place to work at. They time your bathroom breaks and they like to call it wrap up time which is time you use for the bathroom and for notes to put in accounts. Therefore they want an average of 3 mins which you only have 1 minute to use the bathroom and rest is to type notes and walk to the bathroom. Vacation time sucks because there is too any people in the department and it will be difficult for you to get time you want. People there just go and do their job they don't socialize or talk to anyone really. If your looking for a friendly cultured job this is not the place you want to work at. The turnover is huge that is why their always hiring for managers.
Pros
benefits and commission
Cons
bathroom use, breaks, and management

Worked as a CSR at Shaw for about 1 year, I loved working there. Managers are cool, training is great you get properly trained and prepared for the job. Customer's can get angry/annoying but you have to have a lot of patience on this job otherwise you'll get into an argument everyday.
Pros
Shaw Tower Views, Friendly work environment
Cons
Shift work, pay is alright same with benefits
