Our client is looking for an experienced Accounts Payable/ Payroll position. The client is in the Oil and Gas industry and is based out of Drayton Valley, AB.

Reporting to: Chief Financial Officer

Position Summary:

Account Payable is responsible for the processing of supplier invoices; ensuring invoices and payment are completed in a timely manner. They work to meet weekly and monthly deadlines, perform accounting and clerical tasks related to the efficient maintenance and processing of accounts payable transactions and carry out other financial duties related to the payables function as directed by the Chief Financial Officer.

Payroll function will be to manage, direct, control and process the company’s payroll and all other payroll related duties.

Responsibilities:

Account Payable

  • Review and verify invoices and check requests
  • Sort, code and match invoices
  • Set invoices up for payment
  • Enter and upload invoices into system
  • Track expenses and process expense reports
  • Prepare and process electronic transfers and payments
  • Prepare and perform check runs
  • Post transactions to journals
  • Reconcile accounts payable transactions
  • Monitor accounts to ensure payments are up to date
  • Research and resolve invoice discrepancies and issues
  • Maintain vendor files
  • Correspond with vendors and respond to inquiries
  • Assist with month end closing
  • Provide supporting documentation for audits
  • Reconcile bank transactions daily

Payroll

  • Coordination and management of the entire payroll function
  • Manage and supervise direct reports within the Payroll Team
  • Checking and auditing payrolls
  • Manage Company Benefit programs
  • Calculation and payment of termination payments
  • Calculation, payment and reconciliation of payroll tax and group tax
  • Liaising with management and staff regarding pay enquiries
  • Maintenance of staff records including archiving and filing
  • Preparation of ad hoc reports as required
  • Liaise with HR regarding new hires, terminations, remuneration and conditions of service
  • Workers compensation co-ordination
  • Preparation of T4’s
  • Track and manage spreadsheets relevant to payroll ex/vehicle benefits, employee reimbursement and deductions
  • Creating ROE’s for terminations

Required Skills

  • Knowledge of accounts payable
  • Knowledge of general accounting procedures
  • Knowledge of relevant accounting software
  • Proficient in data entry and management
  • 1-3 years accounts payable or general accounting experience
  • Comprehensive knowledge of payroll systems
  • Demonstrated payroll management experience
  • Attention to detail

This position is located in the Drayton Valley area.

Wage will be based on experience.
