Job Title: Personal Support Worker
Territory: Second Family Care is currently looking for Personal Support Workers to provide non-medical in-home personal care in Kanata,Carp, Stittsville,
Position Reports To: The supervision of the General Manager, scheduler and occasionally to client care mangers
Job Purpose Summary: Provide personal care and support services to clients as assigned on the client's service and care plan
Hours of Work: Part-Time 10-35 hours per week. Work is not guaranteed and subject to clients’ need.
Key Responsibilities and Accountability (may include but not limited to):
Providing elderly and convalescent clients with companionship and personal care at the client’s place of residence during periods of need
Bedside and personal care assistance for clients such as: bathing, personal hygiene, dressing and undressing.
Planning and preparing meals, inconsideration with special diets, and assistance in feeding clients.
Performing routine housekeeping duties such as laundry, dish washing and making beds.
Working in a safe manner and Promoting safety
Assisting clients with walking, movement and positioning
Safely assisting with physical lifts and/or transfers
Assisting with range of motion exercise and other rehabilitative measures
Providing emotional and social support
The Observation and timely report of changes in the client's mental, physical, or emotional condition or home
situation to immediate supervisor
Accurate and legible completion of required forms related to services provided.
Establishing and maintaining effective communication and professional relationship with clients, family members, and co-workers.
Maintaining strict confidentiality regarding client information and strict adherence to policies involving working in the vulnerable sector.
Participation in: continuing education programs and improvements in service during service and mandatory staff meetings as
Education & Qualifications:
Competitive Credentials (certificates, licences, memberships, courses, etc.): First Aid Certificate, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certificate, Personal Support Worker Certificate or equivalent experience
Competitive applicants will:
Have experience in a health/homecare long-term care/retirement facility or comparable health care service
Function best with minimal direct supervision
Maintain, promote and grow professional relationships with supervisors, staff and clients (including their family).
Be bondable/insurable and possess a valid driver's license.
Satisfactorily complete the safety and orientation training program and commit to learning Second Family Care policies.
