Mobile Business Development (Current Employee), Dakar SenegalNovember 1, 2014
Pros: free lunches. health insurance. car plan. free phone communication
Working at Samsung is being ready to develop serious speed in execution, develop one's ability to adapt to every situation and finally endurance knowing you're working in a fast growing international business.

A typical day can have you using sequentially all of your skills and make you develop new ones to achieve a designed target.

I've developed serious project management skills that allowed me to achieve my objectives while dealing with pressure and deadlines efficiently

co-workers are great to be with when you manage to get everyone in line. Working on a project basis can design any of the employee of the office as project leader for a specific work. Then, management skills of one's are required to keep cohesion between different personalities and ranks and work as a team to reach our objective

the hardest part of the job is that slowly your life balance is disturbed and you find yourself spending your weekends working in the office instead of being with your family. by the time you realize it, a year has passed and you're already on some other project

Productive and great environment
Contract Specialist Administrator (Current Employee), Austin, TXOctober 30, 2014
Pros: no micromanaging and hour lunch breaks
Cons: sometimes slow workflow
Maintaining an audit file for each contractor, which would include the original contract, all correspondence, changes/deviations, amendments, clarifications, payment schedules. Also, preparing and disseminate information to appropriate Samsung Executives regarding contract status, facilitate contractor meetings, and accounts receivable. Perform closing activities as needed, such as comparing actual cost with current budget. Track payments and deadlines. Analyze and mitigate risk. Provide contract summaries and ensure contract execution in accordance with company policy.
Overseeing quantity surveys and reviewing to ensure proper order of procedures.

The work environment is very laid back and I work closely with Senior Engineers.

The hardest part of the job would be dealing with our vendors incompliance with procedures.

The best part is solving solutions for my Senior Executives when they need a tasked completed on the financial side. Which gives me the opportunity to apply Excel skills.

UX Technical Writer (Current Employee), Bridgewater, NJOctober 21, 2014
Pros: brand name, company discounts, health insurance.
Cons: no room for advancement, poor management.
Great people to work with and the job itself is very hands-on. There's little to no training as schedules are never really set and projects are rushed. The hardest part about the job is that you never learn anything new.

Senior Manager (Former Employee), SingaporeOctober 17, 2014
Pros: leading edge technology, fast decision making, great salary & benefits, enteprenerial spirit
Cons: poor management, reactive decision making, poor planning/strategy, disconnect between korean and non-korean staff, strong hyerarchy, language barrier - many employees do not speak english
An interesting and highly successful company with a unique work environment and strong Korean culture.
It was very enjoyable working with colleagues, many of them the best in their field and be part of the exciting world of leading technology and latest gadgets.
Samsung is a brand one cannot help being proud of however some senior managers struggle with anger management issues, lack of professional behavior and common courtesy.
What I liked most about my time in Samsung was the freedom of tryinig out new ideas and overall support for creativity.

Good healthcare, and 401k. Low starting pay
Manufacturing Specialist (Former Employee), Austin, TxOctober 9, 2014
Pros: healthcare, 401k, quarterly bonuses, lunch assistance, gym and cafeteria
Cons: low starting pay, low raises
Samsung is not a bad place to work. There is a cafeteria and gym on site, and they give you a little money every month to eat there. The health benefits and 401k were really good. The pay was not great when I worked there. I started at 11/hr, and through my years there nobody was getting any significant raises at all. They did have quarterly bonuses though, so that was a plus. Job security was good as well when I worked there. If you don't mind being on your feet for about 10 hours a day it's not too bad.
