Position Janitor - Temporary Position

Facility / Dept Sault Ste. Marie - Thrift Store & Community and Family Services

Location 78 Elgin St., Sault Ste Marie, ON

Ensure the general upkeep of the facility i.e. empty all garbage receptacles vacuum or sweep all floors, wash floors and baseboards, clean all glass areas, clean both bathrooms, dust all offices and furnishings, and replace light bulbs as necessary.
Clean and polish sinks and counter tops, mirrors, and fixtures.
Monitor and maintain stock of regularly used items, i.e. mops, brooms, lights, supplies etc., and order/purchases as required.
Keep accurate records relating to product ordering etc.
Report safety concerns and major issues as required.
Identify/report to supervisor any repairs that may require an external service provider.
Restock washrooms supplies and distributes received material as required.
Spot wash accessible walls, strip and wax floors as required.
Perform other position related duties as required.

Elementary School education
A minimum of three (3) months prior related experience in janitorial services, including familiarity with cleaning supplies and procedures
Effective stock taking/ordering skills
Effective skills in oral/written communication, listening, organization and planning, time management, interpersonal relationships and social interaction.
Self-motivated and disciplined
Be able to lift/move more than 20 pounds as required.
Provide an original copy of a Criminal Records Check (CRC) with vulnerable sector screening secured through either the national Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) or through a local police detachment; Note: A satisfactory criminal background check is required.
Screening through The Salvation Army Abuse Registry.
Support for and commitment to the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada.

Job Grade 3+
Term $10.34 per hour
Hours Mondays 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, includes a 1 hour unpaid lunch.
Proposed start date: As soon as possible
