The Salt Spring Centre of Yoga, now in its 32nd year, is the longest-running spiritual retreat centre on Canada's west coast and is known for the excellence of its programs, delicious vegetarian cuisine, and productive organic farm.
An opportunity exists to join our kitchen team as Kitchen Manager, working to plan, oversee, and manage all aspects of kitchen operations during the 2013 season.
The successful applicant will have experience cooking vegetarian meals for 50 or more people, excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to train and supervise other kitchen staff, understanding of Food Safe requirements and kitchen sanitation, and experience with inventory and food ordering.
The Kitchen Manager receives a monthly stipend as well as room and board (delicious organic, vegetarian meals), and a variety of meditation, asana, and philosophy classes. The work week is 40 hours, which includes time for community meetings. Applicants should have a strong desire to experience life in a vibrant intentional community based on yoga philosophy and practice and be willing to make a firm commitment from March 1 through November 30, 2013.
