This is a one-year contract position involving full-time work with Sheridan College's Screen Industries Research and Training Centre (SIRT) based at Pinewood Toronto Studios. Work will include computer programming leadership on multiple projects involving consulting, applied research and problem-solving for industry partners. The successful candidate will work with other technical leads (e.g., computer animation, live action cinematography and post-production) as part of an interdisciplinary team providing innovation support for the cinema, television and gaming industries.

We are looking for someone with at least 4 years of experience as a games programmer with several published games, and experience with 3D graphics and real-time rendering applications. A good knowledge of at least one of the following 3D game engines is required: Unity, CryENGINE, or Unreal. You must be strong in C/C++ and proficient in one or more of scripting languages such as Perl, Python, MEL, JavaScript, etc. Experience with C#, Objective-C, and Java would be considered a plus. You are comfortable working autonomously and as part of an interdisciplinary team.

SIRT is an applied research and technology access centre established by Sheridan College in 2010 at Pinewood Toronto Studios in the east end of Toronto. SIRT works with industry, academic, and government partners to facilitate collaborative research, innovation support and specialized training for industry professionals.

Type: Contract Position – One Year renewable
Salary: Based on experience

Ideal Candidate:

  • Mobile (iOS/Android) game or application development experience
  • Experience with 3D graphics programming and developing real-time rendering applications
  • Motion capture knowledge
  • Python and Mel Scripting abilities
  • Experience in developing tools to facilitate pipeline integration and quality of animation and visual effects
  • Has some experience teaching or developing curriculum in a post-secondary or industry environment

Minimum Qualifications are:

  • Strong generalist coder
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent
  • 4 years professional game and/or animation/vfx programming experience with C/C++ and C#
  • Game development experience/ Understanding of game development workflows
  • Commercial game engine experience (CryENGINE, Unreal, and/or Unity)
  • Strong independent contributor and team player in a multi-disciplinary environment
  • Ability to lead through example
