support production by taking existing customer supplied drawings are creating shop floor manufacturing prints (AutoCad 2D and Inventor 3D)
support Sales by preparing estimates on material and design intent
prepare detailed Bills of Materials as needed
have a solid understanding of fabrication and machining practices in order to 'Design for Manufacture' and achieve the lowest cost solution. Equipment includes; HD plasma cutting, brake presses, plate rolls, ironworkers, shears, etc.
support and instruct fabrication personnel with drawing interpretation and measurements
Organization and planning:
maintain a weekly project work log. Track the engineering hours against established standards.
effectively communicate any projects delays
maintain an organized drawing management system consistent with ISO standards
Manufacturing support:
identify opportunities to improve the quality, cost, and delivery of standard Jayne product
observe, prepare, and implement SWI (Standard Work Instructions) for repetitive Jayne products
maintain accurate catalogue of standard nests for plasma cutting
prepare production aids (jigs, fixtures, templates, etc)
*Preferred Qualifications & Training Requirements:
min. 3yr. Engineering Technologist diploma (Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering preferred)
motivated and enthusiastic individual driven by continuous improvement
have excellent blueprint reading abilities
possess excellent written and verbal communication skills when collaborating with customer base (internal and external)
Have previous experience with the proper selection and use of commercially available carbon and stainless steel commodities
Sound knowledge of fabrication techniques including bending, rolling, plasma cutting, punching
Sound knowledge of various welding techniques: MIG, TIG, SMAW, GMAW & FCAW
working knowledge of MS Office, AutoCad 2D and Inventor 3D, an MRP/ERP system (JobBOSS preferred)
Minimum 5 years experience working in metal fabrication environment*
