Position Title: Foreman
Department: Injection Moulding Department

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
" Directs operators to achieve established and communicated production targets.
" Maintains productivity to achieve production schedules.
" Schedules or assists in assigning operators to specific work areas.
" Supervises assigned operators and material handlers.
" Ensures proper and efficient running of production machines and equipment.
" Ensures sufficient materials are available to meet production needs.
" Hires, trains, disciplines, fires employees in conjunction with the Director of Production.
" Checks accuracy and maintenance of production equipment.
" Established moulding standards and cycles.
" Sets up moulds, troubleshooting and start up of equipment.
" Makes adjustment to moulding parts as required.
" Repairs mould, if possible/as needed (change springs, heater, polish and clean moulds).
" Completes daily production reports.
" Communicates to management any machine malfunctions.
" Communicates pertinent information to next shift.
" Maintains safe and healthy working conditions while enforcing safety, health and security rules and regulations to reduce frequency and/or seriousness of accidents.
" Complies with established job safety practices.
" Performs clean-up and housekeeping duties.
" Regular attendance is required between the assigned start and end times for work.
" Maintains the competence, knowledge and skills necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities.
" Performs such assignments as the Quality Assurance Supervisor and management may direct.
" Performs such individual assignments as may direct.
" High school diploma. Technical courses or diploma and/or four year apprenticeship program.
" 3-5 years experience in a plant environment.
" Strong mechanical skills.
" Forklift/Operator certificate.
" Knowledge of forklift maintenance and operation.
" Familiarity with computers would be an asset.
" Standard operating procedure and standard inspection method training (SOP and SIM).
" Standard health and safety training (H&S).
" Attention to detail.
" Strong safety orientation.
" Organized. A self-starter.
" Thorough understanding of the operating principles of all assigned equipment.
" Ability to identify/detect product defects using appropriate inspection procedures and test equipment.
" Mechanical aptitude.
" Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
" Ability to work under general supervision.
" Ability to work with other people, create and maintain a team environment.
" Ability to read, write and comprehend written and verbal instruction in English.
" Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
" Ability to functionally use a computer.
" Required to work a scheduled 8-hour shift.
" Must work overtime as required.
" The environment is noisy and hearing protection is required.
" Exposure to occupational hazards such as physical obstacles, automatic and semi-automatic equipment, chemicals, etc.
" Safety glasses, safety footwear, ear protection in appropriate areas may be required.
" May work with materials that could irritate eyes, skin and breathing. This may require the wearing of gloves, masks or other protective equipment.
" Requires light to heavy lifting, carrying.
" Climbing and working in high and sometimes narrow places.
