Director of Business Development
(Full time Position)

Rowing Canada Aviron, the national sport organization for rowing, is seeking a Director of Business Development

The successful candidate will participate in and be responsible for executing all strategies leading to the growth and development of the organization’s business goals.

They will be an established business development specialist with an excellent track record in the areas of marketing, and communications, fundraising and strategic partnerships. He or she will have a proven ability to network and influence a range of individuals, organizations and businesses and will lead RCA’s communication, marketing and fundraising strategies towards two main goals:

  • Significantly increase the current level of non-government funding.
  • Develop and implement a communication program to effectively and measurably increase the profile, image and the public’s engagement with our athletes, our organization and the sport of rowing.

This position is an integral part of RCA’s management team and a pivotal role in ensuring Rowing Canada’s sustainable success on the national, international and Olympic stage.

The Director of Business Development is a new position and will report to the Executive Director. They will work in close collaboration with RCA’s high performance and development staff in order to build well researched and well measured programs to support RCA in sustaining its world class standing.

The individual will preferably work from RCA’s National Office in Victoria, BC although other options will be considered. There will be some need for travel related to meetings and events. Preference will be given to experienced candidates who are fluent in both official languages.

The successful candidate will have a university or college education and direct experience, with a proven track record of success in the areas of marketing, event planning, communications and fundraising, including donor development and planned giving.
