Rolls Royce Ltd. is a great place to start your career. I worked for a year at Rolls-Royce Energy for a year and I could definitely state that I was treated and respected equally as a permanent full time employee. They care about developing your skills and treat the people respectfully.

Shop technician (workterm student) (Former Employee), St. John's, NLAugust 16, 2013
It was a great atmosphere to work in with great staff. A typical day would consist of working on overhauling cylinder heads, or winches, or any marine equipment, I learned a great amount about a large variety of marine equipment. The management and staff were fantastic! the hardest part of the job would be troubleshooting and problem solving for some issues while overhauling the equipment, but at the same time that was also the most enjoyable part.

Assistant manager (Former Employee), Abu Dhabi, AZJanuary 26, 2015
Pros: great events, traveling to uk, trainings
Cons: lack of communication
it is stress motivated working environment, that in the end make you learn how to work under stress, and be motivated by it. long working hours that are expected, even additional days from weekend.
hardest part of job was facing a lot of injustice, unofficial blackmailing and no choice or flexibility. most enjoyable part is working for a great brand and training that company was providing, still there was investment in individual employee growth.

Rolls Royce should be ashamed
Forklift Driver (Former Employee), Chichester, ENGJanuary 25, 2015
Pros: money
Cons: training, management, treatment of staff, hours
Rolls Royce certainly want and get their pound of flesh. The shifts are a killer with one week earlies one week lates. The managements attitude toward staff verges on bullying. They do not offer a retainer when laying you off but will expect you to be available when they need you, in fact they went so far as to tell me I could not get other agency work whilst working through an agency for them. They have a tendency to lay staff off just before Christmas and give little to no warning. The selection process for who is going to be laid off is bias and fails to meet Union or their own policies. All in all whilst Rolls Royce may have an amazing reputation for building cars they fail miserably in all aspects of employment including the total lack of training.

Cummins is a proven leader in industry and the community
Project Engineer - T56 Engine (Former Employee), Indianapolis, INJanuary 19, 2015
Pros: company has strong leadership, is a market leader, with expanding portfolio. personal and career development both greatly supported.
Cons: customers are often competitors as well making for complicated partnerships.
Typical day can start with a supplier call to discuss potential design, meetings with component and service engineer to understand failure mode, and a chat with subject matter expert to develop validation plan. Management provides the guidance for success and for growth. Co-workers are a constant source of useful information and water-cooler chit chat. The hardest part of the day may be trying to coordinate the implementation of new product from overseas supplier to multiple plants. The most enjoyable part of the day is lunch with team-member at our favorite local eatery.
