With strong financial results and an ambitious growth plan, Rocky Mountaineer is increasing the size of its Human Resources team to effectively support the execution of its business strategies.

In collaboration with the RM Leadership team, the Senior Human Resources Business Partner will design and develop proactive and strategic people solutions that will support client groups and RM overall in the delivery of business strategies. This position will facilitate and deliver HR programs and services to client groups in the areas of organization design, employee relations, talent management/development, rewards, diversity and engagement.

HR Consulting & Advice:

Develop trusting and collaborative relationships with leadership teams in assigned client groups and become an integral member of those teams as a trusted advisor
Gain deep knowledge and insights into the operation of the client groups, including strategies, talent levels, opportunities and challenges
Translate business knowledge into insights and opportunities to offer proactive people solutions
Coach leaders to effectively support and manage their team members
Participate as a management representative in Employee Committees
Provide guidance to managers and directors on career development in conjunction with their managers
Respond to enquiries and questions from candidates, staff, managers, directors and external suppliers
Understand and interpret HR policies and provide advice on highly complex matters

Team Leadership:

Direct, coach and support team members to achieve their highest level of performance
Create meaningful development plans that will stretch team members to fulfil their potential
Support the HR Director in monitoring the HR budget.

Program Design:

Lead projects to design enhanced HR programs and services for RM that will support successful organization growth and position RM as a “top employer”
Understand the leading-edge people practices of successful organizations and consider innovative approaches that align to RM strategies
Contribute to the development of the HR Strategic plan, operational plan and creation of associated budget
Oversee the development of tools and resources that enable people managers to easily and effectively implement programs

Program & Service Delivery:

Facilitate the annual talent assessment and development planning process in collaboration with the HR Director
Lead the annual Achievement Plan process and support leaders to effectively goal-set, evaluate and develop team members
Support leaders to identify development needs and appropriate solutions (exposure plans, career broadening, coaching, mentoring etc.)
Advise leaders on the management of underperformance and employee misconduct, presenting best advice on options and risks as informed by the Canada Labour Code. Seek advice through external legal counsel as required
Oversee and create disciplinary letters as required
Lead the RM Forum (engagement survey) process, analyzing results for client groups and working with leaders on action planning at the functional level
Source and/or facilitate management development training in line with identified needs
Lead & oversee the RM Employment Equity submission and related initiatives. Chair the diversity committee
Lead the annual compensation and incentive reviews for client groups, utilizing market data and RM financial inputs to create appropriate pay ranges
Lead the annual benefits renewal process
Oversee the management of leaves of absence, returns-to-work and accommodations
Lead and oversee Health and Safety initiatives from an HR perspective and ensure accurate compliance reporting
Monitor people program completion/effectiveness
Interpret data and reports to identify trends, issues and generate action plans

HR Effectiveness:

Drive HR efficiency and effectiveness through a focus on documented plans, processes and policies that ensures consistency and continuity
Collaborate with the Senior Manager, Communications to identify ways to improve communication and engagement of RM team members
Negotiate with and manage contracts with external providers
Collaborate with HR peers to allocate resources to overall HR department priorities as required

10+ years’ experience
Business degree preferred, including HR-specific education
