Position Overview

The Welder’s responsibility is to weld parts, tools, machines and equipment to help build structures and repair damages to company equipment as per the specifications. This position is overtime eligible.

-Proficient in welding and the use of fabrication, materials handling and productions equipment
-Capable of reading blueprints and schematics, cleaning and checking for defects and shaping component parts
-Maintain the cleanliness of shop area and follow rules and regulations to work safely
-Keep all tools and equipment in clean and safe working condition
-Journeyman may supervise apprentice welders
-Other duties as assigned

-Journeyman or registered apprentice in Red Seal Welder program
-Class 5 Driver’s License with a clean drivers abstract
-Ability to take direction and offer positive feedback
-Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
-Personal hand tools required
-Ability to lift and carry weights of 50 pounds or more
-Ability to work on all components of equipment, above, below or around
-Ability to work independently and make decisions combined with the ability to work as part of a team and share information

Working Conditions
-Required to work in all weather conditions
-Possibility of exposure to flammable substances such H2S, C02 SO2, and other toxic substances
-Work “on call” as required
-Long periods of driving, standing, crouching, lifting and bending.
-Capability of lifting 50 lbs repeatedly
