Quality Assurance Specialist
Reports to: Quality Manager

Summary:

Quality focused individual who provides technical and quality operations support to respective departments. The individual will Work on assignments that are semi-routine in nature, but recognizes the need for occasional deviation from accepted practice. They will also provide individual, team and department error/accuracy information and identify areas for improvement. In addition the ideal candidate will mine data to identify discrepancies and perform ongoing analytics and identify areas requiring corrections prior to release of documents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participates in review and approval for investigations associated with Company Quality standards and procedures
  • Approves or rejects components, containers, in-process materials, packaging materials, labeling, and products to ensure compliance with procedures and specifications
  • Inspect incoming production materials to master samples, drawings, procedures and requirements
  • Inspect production at various stages of the process, document results, and follow up on quality issues and non-conformances
  • Review work instructions and production documents for accuracy and opportunities for improvement
  • Monitor, recycle, rework, re-inspect and control scrap and non-conforming product, and prepare reports; Ensure product is adjusted in the computerized inventory system
  • Follow up on quality issues with Suppliers for corrective action; Complete Supplier Claim documentation for credit of non-conforming product
  • Affix seals or tags to approved products and mark and reroute defective products for repair or recycle
  • Sort products by style, colour, size, length or other criteria as require, pack, crate and package materials and products for local and international outgoing finished products
  • Check and ensure part numbers and components are correct for local and international outgoing finished products
  • Assist in Inventory Control, cycle counts etc., as required and delegated by Management
  • Responsible of daily cleaning of work areas and equipment

Requirements:

  • Completion of High School diploma or equivalent education is required
  • 1-2 years experience in quality control environment, knowledge and understanding of quality processes and standards is required
  • 1-2 yrs experience with Inventory Maintenance & Manufacturing processes and standards an asset
  • Strong organizational, problem solving, decision making and written and oral communication skills a must
  • Capability to differentiate between and compare against colour sample for a variety of materials is required
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook with a data entry accuracy and speed required
  • Attention to detail with a high quality standard would be needed
  • Ability to work independently
