‘ReadingGate’ in Richmond is hiring! We are looking to instructors to teach English K-12 students.
Program Description:
English teaching from literacy to advanced level
Intensive storybook reading is to combine speaking, listening, and speaking in one to one class
Student learn from teacher and online self-study
Students participate in diverse event like speech contest, essay writing completion
Occasionally go on field trips for experimental learning
Duties:
Teaching all language sections; Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening
Well-prepared class lesson and dynamic, enthusiastic, and efficient lesson plan reflecting TPR
Preparing lesson plan and extra materials; Basic materials are provided but that should be reorganized according to individual’s level and aptitude, our basic materials are famous and well known storybooks, about 2,000 published in North America
Assessing students achievement and writing report periodically
Marking test and essay editing
Giving written and oral feedback for homework
Providing academic counselling to parents onsite or if it is necessary over the phone
Supervising online self-study and supporting for struggling students and encouraging slow learners
Requirements:
University four years degree in education related filed, prefer TESL, TEFL, English literature, and linguistic, TESL certificate and BC teacher’s license will be an asset
Previous teaching experience in public or private school or educational institution Min 2 years
English as mother tongue and Korean, Chinese bilingual an asset
Knowledgeable instructor who can cover other areas not only English subject but also other subjects like Social, Science and Math to provide extensive knowledge to new students in Canada
Familiarity with BC Curriculum
Excellent presentation and facilitating skills in public workshop including PPT design ability
Providing criminal record check
Last but not least, be sociable, reliable, responsible and punctual for the given tasks, and be enjoyable teaching with children regardless of their age, gender, and race
This position will be started P/T with potential to be extended.
