Senior Receptionist and Banker (Former Employee) – Dean Street, Brampton – 31 May 2016
Wonderful co-workers....my boss was like a father too me as he had 3 sons but no daughters...I learned again the importance of dressing impressively and to treat people walking the door with the greatest of respect as I was the first person and the first impression. I learnt that times when the meetings were late to ask the people or person waiting what I could get them...coffee, tea etc. and because I was people friendly I knew to apologize and talk openly to the person waiting. I think that was my greatest skill just liking being around people and helping them and enjoying doing it. Even if they are not people friendly they should always be approached with the greatest of respect.
Worked part-time mornings on Tuesdays and Thursday 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
At Rice Development I have learned how to apply my post secondary education to real life scenarios. A typical day at work would included receiving invoices, sending them to the appropriate party for approval and then posting them to the general ledger. Then I would prioritize which invoices needed to be paid immediately and which ones could be delayed. The most difficult part of the position was managing the accounts payable for more than 15 different companies. I enjoyed the family-like atmosphere the most. Everyone is willing to help everyone else whether or not it is part of their job description
