Dietary Aide (Current Employee) –  Grimsby, ON10 August 2017
I have had the pleasure of working at a Revera retirement home for several years and I have developed a passion in serving the elderly and ensuring they have a pleasant dining experience. This aspect of my job has been great. However, over the years this location has significantly worsensed due to poor management and I am saddened to say that it is at its lowest point right now. I could see this location shutting down if it continues to go in the direction it has been going.
Pros
Hourly wages, residents, compassionate staff
Cons
Short shifts, poor management, heavy workload

Great teams on the units, busting our backs while head office rakes in massive profits at the cost of residents.
Registered Practical Nurse (Current Employee) –  Burlington, ON8 August 2017
Residents are paying an arm and a leg on top of all of the funding that is provided to individual facilities for nursing (PSW's, nurses, nursing equipment). So why are staff members skipping breaks to provide mediocre care? If you want to be the best in the business then you're going to have to pay for it. CEO's and upper management just pile more paperwork on the registered staff thinking it will solve care issues. You want better care? Have actual nurses and care givers making these decisions, you have no clue what a day as a nurse of a 32 bed unit consists of. You want more complex patient cases so you can receive higher funding dollars from the ministry? Then hire enough nurses to care for all of these complex patients you keep wanting. Profit driven healthcare at its finest. So tired of hearing nothing but family complaints directed at the front line staff because management feeds their imaginations to believe Revera is an all-inclusive resort. Nurses and PSW's being scolded for not allowing family members and residents to abuse them. If you're a nurse, go work in a hospital. The patient ratios are safer than 1:32, and the pay is better.
Pros
Great front line team
Cons
Greedy Head Office, Unrealistic expectations of front line staff which leads to unhappy families and residents, lower pay than other nursing facilities (hospitals) which have lower patient ratios.

My honest review.
This job cannot get any better.
The management is so supportive
Its rewarding work, if you work hard you will be rewarded
The Elders you are around, will give you nothing but support and care.
Its like having family that you don't know about.
Its a blessing to work for this company and everything they have done for elders and the staff is unforgettable.

Don't Bother
Sales Consultant (Current Employee) –  Toronto, ON14 July 2017
This is a terrible company to work for. They continue to promote and reward those with terrible business ideas. It's a stomping groind for egotistical VPs, who have no idea what goes on at site-level, to put their terrible ideas into practise. They fire everyone who opposes them (unless it's too expensive because they've been with the company 10+ years). They continue to push prices up while lowering staffing, food quality and resident satisfaction. The promote those who lie on their satisfaction surveys. Money is the most important thing to the company. I would be ashamed to have a loved one living in a Revera property.

- Focus is on residents and services available
- Ongoing Education and Training opportunities are manditory and staff are also able to request/access outside training opportunities that are made availble
- Staff have opportunity to make suggestions relating to themselves and the services
- There is alot of involvement in community awareness
- Staff appreciation including events are provided on a regular basis are
- Benefit Packages are better than average
- Wages could be increased, but as it is a Private company, is not regulated in the same manner as Government funded/regualted

Terribly managed company
Manager (Current Employee) –  Ottawa, ON20 April 2017
Expectations are astronomical and pay is far less than a position with much less responsibility in the public system. Expectations to be on call 24/7 with little to no money for staff and budgeting to run a building that should be five star. Non-stop complaints from residents that are paying huge sums of money. Corporate has placed the management in these buildings in a position to fail by providing zero budget. Terrible place to work. Most managers only work to gain the experience and then leave - leading to a revolving door syndrome.
Pros
Staff and managers who are working hard to attempt to keep company afloat.
Cons
Everything else!

Reception (Current Employee) –  North York, ON17 April 2017
Management tries their best to keep employees happy: however, because its unionize employees that are better workers don't get the opportunity to advance and excel in their abilities and skills. now enough growth and opportunities within the company if you are a good worker because they want to hold on to the better workers.
Pros
you can talk to management one one one
Cons
not enough meetings for staff

Terrible place to work, not client centred!
Personal Support Worker (Former Employee) –  Renfrew, ON30 March 2017
Terrible place, when providing care for people you want to work for a company that cares as well. In my eyes Revera does not care about their employees and/or clients. I would say some of the psw's care, but when you go to upper management they are all paper pushers and just hacking away waiting for their day to end. Very unorganized.
Pros
Met some wonderful clients in my community

all around horrible place to work

Not the greatest place to work
Technical Support Analyst (Former Employee) –  Cambridge, ON22 March 2017
If you are starting out in health/elderly care this place is ok to get experience. Not the best pay unless you work higher up in executive offices. Most of the execs are overpaid and treat the company as if it's their own to do with.

Encouraging Environment meant to allow employees advance and learn.
Communications Intern (Former Employee) –  Mississauga, ON21 March 2017
In August of 2016, I interned at Revera Inc. with their communications team. The internship was designed to allow interns to explore different divisions (external PR, internal communications, Innovations division etc.) We were responsible for small jobs (putting together statements for the company's internal website, creating excel spreadsheets on Revera's homes, PowerPoint presentations) and were given the opportunity to sit in on communication team meetings. It was an amazing opportunity in an environment that fostered and encouraged growth and personal incentive in its employees
