Casheir (Current Employee), Johannesburg, GPApril 13, 2014
Pros: free lunch
Cons: working long hours, gaining extra cash.not going to lunch to gain some extra cash, committing yourself.
When a boss is in a bad space, can make your life difficult make you feel like you can quite in a moment.Learn to know your work rights, love my job no matter what.Management can also try to make you feel aquate, by trying to prove a point to you that they are in charge and we have to respect that. With your co-worker the competition can make you re think,about – more... yourself, also must trust your self. When your manager trying to make things difficult for you,for just wanting to prove a point of being in charge. When doing your job, without someone wanting to rule you, being in charge on your work, just doing your thing.Showing that you can do it. – less

Helping customers i love to do. management was sometimes not inforced with the rules from the store. there was no hard part in the job because i was well trained – more... to do my job. the most enjoyable part was working with good employees, dressing mannequins with my own style and most of all helping my faithful customers that would often come in and look for me to help them. – less

Relieving management (Former Employee), Johannesburg, GPFebruary 17, 2014
Pros: no free lanches
Cons: very long hours
when sharing morning meetings with the staff that was very knowledgeable about retail would come with such ideas that would improve sales as i gave them a chance to speak their mind.he was the one i looked up to at all times cause he gave me the best performance in everything i asked him to do.
He brought life in others as i found everyone of them so – more... very demoralized. But i was happy cause my skills worked because everyone started competing and willing to secrifise their breaks when we had a load of work.

The part i will never forget which was the hardest time of my life at work - Is when i caught stealing my stock. for once i thought i was dreaming as i was not expecting that from him,I made sure that i am there when he was in a disciplinary hearing. To set an example. – less

Inspiring and productive work place
Artist/ Retail salemen (Former Employee), Berkeley, CAJanuary 29, 2014
Pros: making art, meeting new people, free lunch, co-workers
Cons: only paid 75$ every month if she had the money, manager never there
Working there was fun to get the day started we would began with creating an art piece if there were no customers. And when the customers walk in I would greet them and tell the customers that the holidays coming up and persuade them in to getting shirts, shoes etc for their loved ones. The manager wasn't always there so in was run by a whole bunch of – more... students. She only came on Fridays and she would usually bring lunch every Friday. The hardest part of it all would have to be shaving down wooden chairs. But the part I enjoyed the most was being able to express yourself and being able to take things seriously but also having fun. – less

Intense environment, No collaboration, just dictatorship, oppressed management
Assistant Manager/Full-Time/Part-Time (Former Employee), Payless Shoe SourceDecember 3, 2013
Cons: expectations are intense, and do not balance with the salary.
Managers, as well as District Managers, expect you to perform their similar job duties, and company expectations with little or no training. Also, the pay is no where near in reflection of the expectations. The management are dictators and ask for everything with no rewards, or compensation in return. Part-time sales associates are worked like"dogs" – more... and make minimum wage. The raises are not more than 10 cents a year. Therefore, these are the reasons why they have such high turnover rates. They spend more money in hiring, and recruiting new associates instead of attempting to increase their retention rates within their existing team.s The company is closed minded and not open for new ideas, or a new growth that can instill a positive change, and growing future for their company. – less

Stocker/Facing (Former Employee), BradfordDecember 2, 2013
Pros: short hours each day, good part-time to have whilst studying, experience gained
I found that a typical day at work consisted of restocking, assisting customers with finding what they were looking for, stock checking and ordering, organising rubbish, cleaning.
I learned that i needed to be on my feet and working to the best of my abilities to work well consistently.
My co-workers was my boss which worked behind tills whilst i was – more... out and about the shop.
The hardest part of my job was being consistent with finishing everything i needed to as early as possible to keep restocking and checking and double checking everything was in order.
The most enjoyable part of my job was i had a laugh with my boss whilst working and it was only opposite my house so it was no distance to travel and i tend to of found that most people who came in the shop i knew and found it enjoyable assisting customers find or attain what they're looking for. – less
