The Director is responsible for the proper management of all tennis operations of the club to facilitate maximum member satisfaction from their tennis activities. The Director will run an operation compatible with the interests of members and their guests as well as club employees, the maintenance and improvement of the quality of the club’s services, and the security and protection of the club’s assets and facilities.

*Salary: $2500 Monthly for 35.0 hours per week (equivalent to $17.86/hour)

Hours: Varied hours (9am-9pm Monday to Friday; 9am-5pm Saturday and Sunday plus holidays)*


  • Manage, control and evaluate the operations of the tennis club
  • Organize and administer local, national, provincial and international training, coaching, tournament and other programs
  • Prepare and develop policies and procedures to implement programs
  • Ensures that all club members and guests receive courteous, prompt and professional attention to all their tennis needs
  • Ensures that all employees consistently comply with club’s employee manual and with all applicable federal and state employment laws
  • Organize fundraising drives and arrange for sponsorships from public and private organizations
  • Develop the budget and long range plans for the tennis club in coordination with the Red Deer Tennis Club Board and Treasurer. Assure that goals are met
  • Oversee the tennis club to include merchandising, recording inventory and invoices. Establishes appropriate inventory levels for tennis club
  • Promote leagues, round robins, drop-in, ladders and tournament
  • Promote tennis clinics, private lessons, adult, junior and senior program
  • Represents the club in area professional tennis activities and at provincial or national tennis events with approval from the Red Deer Tennis Club Board
  • Participates on all committees related to the tennis operation


  • Four year college/university degree preferred
  • 3-5 years of experience in related to sports administration, consulting or programming
  • Profound in computer skills including the ability to operate database, spreadsheet, word processing programs and Tournament Software’s Tournament Planner
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Good communication skills including oral, written and listening in English is a must. Knowledge of other languages would be an asset
  • Ability to motivate, organize and lead others to achieve objectives
  • Must be able to supervise, delegate responsibility and follow up
  • Understanding of accounting and budget functions
  • Coaching certification would also be an asset
  • Several years of tennis experience would be an asset
  • Flexibility to work any hours required
