The new School of Education will be one of seven schools at Red Deer College. The School of Education, offers a Bachelor of Education degree in collaboration with the University of Alberta, an Early Learning & Child Care certificate and distance diploma program, an Educational Assistant certificate program and the Transitional/Vocational Program which offers employment readiness and job skills training to adults with developmental disabilities.

As the Dean for the School of Education, you will contribute to the strategic leadership of the College and provide operational leadership to the school in support of a learner centred environment. You will have the unique opportunity to work collaboratively in stewarding internal and external partnerships with school districts and universities in pursuit and support of collaborative degree opportunities for students.
Collaborating with your Associate Dean, faculty and staff, you will foster a culture of innovation and professional development, ensuring a vibrant and robust program mix that meets the needs of students and employers. You will ensure that existing programs and curriculum meet or exceed accreditation or transfer standards.
The Dean of Education will provide leadership for the development of the school and associated programs specific student recruitment and retention plans and oversee the personnel and financial operations of the School.
This position in collaboration with the Vice President and Senior Management of the Enterprise and Community Relations Division will establish priorities for fund development needs within the school and develop strategies to achieve fund development goals. As the Dean, you will be expected to engage with prospective donors/sponsors and Alumni and support the stewardship of existing relationships and development of future prospects. It is also expected that the incumbent will demonstrate community involvement and engagement in support of program and facility planning, student recruitment, establishing community service learning and research opportunities for faculty and learners.
To be successful in this position you will possess a minimum of a Masters degree in Education with a PhD preferred (candidates with significant progress towards a PhD will also be considered) and a track record that includes 5-10 years of successful senior leadership in a complex organization, as well as, demonstrated commitment to the values, goals and mandates of a teaching and learning focused institution. You are a dedicated communicator with high emotional intelligence, a team player, with an inclusive management style that inspires trust. You will have demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills and success in developing and expanding your discipline and education networks. A proven ability to work collaboratively across all organizational lines and divisions in furthering organizational goals is essential as is a demonstrated tolerance for ambiguity and reasonable risk taking.
