Summary:

Reporting to the Vice President of Sales & Marketing, this position would be responsible for overseeing the Public relations and Marketing department, including managing two employees as well as all areas of the company’s marketing strategy, from the development of different elements to their execution. This will include public relations strategies, event management, in-store marketing initiatives, shop-in-shop support and flagship store support.
Every day will be different as your role will involve many different tasks. Through this position, you will gain opportunities to create and contribute to marketing ideas that complement and enhance the marketing department and that support the company’s overall goals.

Key Responsibilities:

Hire, train, guide & manage employees in the department and manage employee tracking system.

Work closely with PR Coordinator and PR agencies to identify, discuss & execute PR strategies for North America. Write press releases when required, share press news with agencies, and work closely with German head office to identify North American PR needs.

Work with Executive Vice President of retail stores to implement new flagship stores in time and on budget. Advise on issues and changes to be made, if required. Work with millwork and construction companies to ensure look & feel of stores is consistent with company standards, negotiate rates when applicable.

Research, support, initiate and execute North American corporate partnerships including contract building. Work with VP of Sales & Marketing for approvals.

Work with PR Coordinator to plan, organize and execute company events, including trade shows, consumer events, PR events, and internal company events.

Oversee & coordinate the building, shipping and all details for shop-in-shops, communicate appropriately with customers and builders in a timely manner to ensure projects are done to spec, on time and on budget. See project from concept to completion.

Oversee, advise & coordinate the build and shipment of all RIMOWA store window displays, coordinate with designer, builder and customer to ensure proper and timely completion of displays.

Support RIMOWA Flagship stores with marketing needs, events and issues along with Marketing Coordinator. Work with PR Coordinator to plan PR-related in-store events.

Communicate with German head office regarding advertising, communications, and marketing strategies. Identify, research and advise on North American advertising needs.

Oversee acquisition and/or build and delivery of marketing materials including POS materials, store fixtures, graphic displays, and more. Ensure visual merchandising guidelines are updated and followed. Communicate with Sales Representatives when required.

Work with PR agencies to ensure they are meeting company needs, negotiate rates when applicable, and approve added costs when applicable

Maintain inventory of four warehouses – work with Marketing Coordinator and PR Coordinator

Set annual marketing/PR/advertising budget when required.

Work with Marketing Coordinator & PR Coordinator to enhance, update and print the company training manual. Keep it up to date whenever a change is required.

Keep up to date on company’s trademark and patent licensing to ensure proper use of trademark and patent in the marketplace

Work with PR Coordinator to monitor all RIMOWA Social Media channels. Advise on new initiatives, contests, co-branding partnerships, etc…

Oversee the creation, coordination, preparation, maintenance and distribution of advertising campaigns appropriate for print or electronic media and marketing/advertising mail outs

Oversee company newsletter. Advise on changes, story ideas, write stories when required; work with head office to ensure information on marketing materials is accurate and appropriate

Research, arrange and supply to the VP of Sales & Marketing requirements and information for meetings regarding trade and professional associations and other groups to promote and discuss conference, convention and trade show services.

Research and source printing suppliers for advertising campaigns and advertising or sales promotion strategies when required

Oversee dealer websites and RIMOWA website dealer list when required; ensure brand is properly represented

Assemble data and prepare periodic and special reports, manuals and correspondence

Perform multiple clerical duties (mailings, labels, electronic storage media, worksheets, etc…)

Respond to enquiries via telephone, in person or electronic, or forward to appropriate person regarding type, quality and quantity of merchandise or services sought for purchase

Education/Experience:

Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in marketing, public relations or business administration or a related field is required
3-5 years in a direct management role required
Minimum 3 years of experience in marketing, public relations or business administration department required (consumer products, marketing, wholesale, manufacturing, etc…)
2+ years’ experience in store planning and setup, organization, construction coordination, shop-in-shop procedures, set up and administration an asset
Advanced computer knowledge and skills using Word, Publisher, Excel, Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat, Power Point is required
Ability to effectively communicate via all channels required
Strong data entry, organizational and multi-tasking skills a must
Strong negotiation skills

Occasional travel required (1-4 times year depending on requirement)
Occasional working extra hours (during events)
Occasional warehouse organization, some light lifting at times (for inventory & event management)

Compensation Package

Start date: May 5th 2014

Pay period payments are made on a bi-weekly basis.

The hours of work will be from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (flexible hours available)
Scheduled unpaid lunch: ½ hour
