Quicksilver Resources Canada Inc. is a Calgary based company recognized as a leader in unconventional gas exploration and development. We have established operations in Alberta’s Horseshoe Canyon and a strong land position for future development in BC’s Horn River Basin.
Further to excellent results from our initial development in the Horn River Basin, Quicksilver is recruiting to support our future growth. The successful candidate will be performing health, safety and environmental duties for our Horn River Basin (HRB) Operation in Northeastern BC, reporting to the Health & Safety Coordinator based in Calgary. The position is managed on a two week in – two week out rotation to a camp location with flights originating between Fort Nelson, BC and major centres in Alberta or BC only. The HSE Advisor will be responsible for conducting audits, spot checks and inspections, and advising HRB operations on OH&S issues, to help transition the workforce to a proactive safety culture, reporting to the Health & Safety Coordinator.
We are looking for a team player to build, maintain and complete necessary audit checklists ensuring that current WorkSafe BC, OGC and other regulation requirements are up to date; conduct site audits & spot checks; inspections and investigations, and assist all facets of training in an advisory capacity regarding HSE/OH&S items within HRB. The candidate will also assist with Contractor Management and Contractor tracking system development; inventory control & management of assets & documents; assist with ERP training & development, deliver orientation for new workers, contractors, etc. assist with project kick-offs, as well as implementation of the drug & alcohol program. This position is the liaison with regulatory bodies (OGC, WSBC, PEP, etc.) and a member of Quicksilver’s Emergency Response Team.
The ideal candidate is an HSE professional with at least 5 years experience; preferably with risk assessment and auditing; Degree or recognized safety designations or certifications; Certificates/training in: driver training; wildlife awareness; ground disturbance; extensive safety and O & G operations experience; valid Drivers’ License; Working towards OH & S certification. This position will be required to conduct/facilitate meetings and training sessions. Working knowledge of WSBC and OH&S BC regulations and familiarity with BC OGC will be an asset.
