This term appointment (to August 31, 2015) within the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science calls for the expertise of a Marketing and Communications Coordinator experienced in creating online content and videos for various audiences and platforms.
Reporting to the Director, Faculty Marketing and Communications, and working to fulfill the Faculty’s Strategic Marketing and Communications Plan, you will play a particularly key role in the areas of social media, digital content, and market research. At the same time, you will be involved in all areas of the Faculty’s broader marketing and communications activities, including the Faculty’s magazine, trade shows, website and recruitment. As a Marketing and Communications Coordinator, you will also aid in the exploration of revenue-generating opportunities for the Faculty through targeted research and analysis, provide leadership to the Faculty’s student social media team, and undertake and implement special projects as assigned.
Specifically, as a Marketing and Communications Coordinator, you can expect to:
-Identify, develop and implement strategies and plans for integrated and consistent external communications and marketing to promote and communicate the success stories and activities of the Faculty.
-Develop and execute the Faculty’s social media strategy, including the creation and publishing of content and review of analytics across various social media channels.
-Following the Queen’s Social Media Guidelines, recommend strategies for strategic brand management and engagement initiatives in response to cultural and social trends, especially as they relate to social media.
-Create and distribute content specific to the various social media platforms.
-Generate a range of digital content for the Faculty’s website – videos, photos, short news items, tweets, etc.
-Coordinate and work closely with the Engineering Student Media Squad to create fresh, exciting, student-focused content, and review and edit materials produced by students prior to publishing.
-Write promotional material for the Faculty Office, Departments, and Centres.
-Identify, develop and implement strategies to promote revenue-generating professional programs.
-Conduct market research & analysis, and identify opportunities to align and co-ordinate initiatives with similar objectives.
-Support student recruitment and marketing activities, in particular for international undergraduate and graduate students.
-Provide work direction and technical/functional guidance to students on the Student Media Squad, schedule and assign work, oversee its completion, and coordinate and monitor work flow.
-Participate in screening and interviewing job candidates, and providing input into selection of student employees.
-Review assignments, provide feedback on work to students, and provide input on work performance to the Director.
-Provide orientation and on-the-job training to students in the unit, as well as coaching and feedback on work quality issues and related day-to-day supervision, and escalate unresolved performance and/or disciplinary matters to the Director.
You bring to the role of Marketing and Communications Coordinator an impressive profile that includes:
-Completion of a 3-year post-secondary program with a focus on Marketing and Communications, Public Relations or a related area, combined with several years of experience in marketing and communications.
-Experience in creating online content (websites, blogs, etc.) and videos, for varied audiences (internal and external) and various platforms.
-Experience with Content Management Systems for web.
-Experience in the post-secondary education sector would be considered an asset.
-Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
-Strong market research and analytical skills.
-Project management skills, including ability to manage and execute projects to deadline, as well as monitor and update project tasks and timelines.
-Excellent skills as a team player, with ability to work with individuals and Departments across the Faculty to build and nurture strong relationships.
-Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks effectively, remaining focused on high-impact initiatives.
-Results orientation and ability to work independently, with initiative and minimal supervision.
-Customer service skills.
-Copy Writing, Editing, Photography and/or Videography skills.
-Familiarity with Adobe Photoshop, Premiere Pro and After Effects (or comparable software).
