In the Early days, it was awesome, but now not so much
Principal - Staff Engineer (Current Employee), San Diego, CAJuly 26, 2015
It used to be fun - like a startup - but when it became extremely corporate, I think it lost a lot of the fun.

We all work very hard, very long hours. But often it is not recognized, and lately, it has not helped the overall business.

Great place to work on leading technologies
Staff Program Manager (Current Employee), San Diego, CAJuly 22, 2015
Qualcomm is a technology focused organization that has led the mobile revolution. Engineers can feel good having worked on technologies used in popular products available in the market. Always brought joy to my face when my children pointed at devices in the store/mall and cheered that their dad worked on that device.

Qualcomm has built great engineering teams across the world to scale and support customers at their physical locations. The advantage of this is that customers get support in their time zone, the disadvantage is that the people in US can get sucked into working really long hours.

Great Place to Work
Marketing Communication Coordinator (Current Employee), San DiegoJuly 19, 2015
Pros: no micromanagement
Cons: culture of the company is changing
Great place to work. Any given day is not really a typical day. You are entrusted to come into work and take care of whatever projects you are working on. Great learning environment and wonderful co-workers. I think the greatest part of the job can be getting used to change, things are constantly evolving and its important that you are comfortable with everything.

Aside from the pay, which was very good for what I did at Qualcomm, the place is a sinking ship these days. I was just laid off because management thought it would be a good idea to outsource my job to a help desk in India.

Pros: The work culture and Openess

One of the best place to work. An innovation, invention driven company. A lot of priority is given for R & D. In my opinion its a very open place to learn, implement and bring the change in futuristic technology.

Productive environment, good coworkers, no job security
Senior IT Analyst (Current Employee), San Diego, CAJune 1, 2015
Pros: Casual attire, ample cubicle space
Cons: No job security in IT
Being within IT gives good satisfaction that you are keeping people productive and helping with any issues. The downside, as with any IT position, is the looming "outsourcing" which makes the environment depressing when rumors start to spread.

Daily tasks are always the same. Little variety. Sure, you have a variety of things to do each day, but they are generally always the same variety.
