Great experience gained at PwC
HR administrator (Former Employee), Birmingham – March 24, 2013
Pros: rotation of work
My role at PwC would differ day to day. I dealt with high volumes of work on a daily basis all on their own SLA'a.
I would be processing;
references,
payroll queries,
payslips,
learning & development,
Pre Screening of candidates,
references

A place to grow
Advisory Manager (Current Employee), Dallas, TX – March 23, 2013
Pros: dynamic work environment, people, coaching, growth opportunity, flexibility
Cons: long hours, travel
PwC's Advisory is a fantastic place to grow with an almost universally impressive group of people to work with. I expect a group of consultants to be smart, but have been most amazed at the degree of character that is built into the culture here. The coaching, teaming, opportunities for development, and the core character of the people here is beyond – more... precedent. The team really gets the concept of ethical relationships with clients.

My only negatives with the company relate to Management Consulting in general - it's a tough life with lots of travel and little consistency/certainty, which makes it a difficult job for some family men. – less

Productive firm, very knowledgeable people at this firm
Advisory Sr Associate Bking Cap Mkts Ops & Tech (Current Employee), 300 Madison Avenue, New York, NY 10017 – March 12, 2013
Pros: meeting new people (networking) and learning new things everyday.
Cons: they use lotus.
Typical day at work: Begins with speaking with the MD's and Partners/Principles, to find out how to help them with POV's (Point of Views), brainstorming and researching data on PwC's platforms or outside research on projects; receive project details, meet with the group you would be working with for a particular project, meet the client, introduce the – more... team, find out what the clients issues are to help the client resolve them; receive data from the client, get findings and make recommendations.
I learned different ways of communicating with clients, colleagues. How to work in groups the PwC way.
My co-workers are very helpful and always there to help each other, everyone is very knowledgeable.
Hardest part of the day, not being assigned to a project.
The most enjoyable part of the day, working with my colleagues and managers.
PwC is a peoples company. – less

Very stiff organisation that is run strictly and to the book
Events Coordinator - contractor (Former Employee), Cape Town, Western Cape – March 11, 2013
Pros: great subsidised canteen
Cons: culture, work ethic
I found the organisation very restrictive both with the general vibe and with respect to using one's initiative, going the extra mile and having a sense of fun in the work place.

The employees adhere very strict time-keeping and are not empowered to work with a degree of independence to achieve their performance contracts.

There is an abnormal no – more... of Afrikaans speaking people working at PwC and it is almost as if it is a prerequisite to getting a job there.

Working in the marketing department, I felt that there was no real marketing strategy in place and that there was little or no integration between the various PwC offices nationally. – less

Value Analytics Associate (Current Employee), San Francisco Bay Area – March 7, 2013
Cons: lack of flexibility in certain teams
It's a mecca for accounting professional with exposure level determined by your position in hierarchy. However, if you are not an accountant this may not be the best place.

Group Administrative Secretary
Administrative Group Secretary (Former Employee), Cardiff – March 5, 2013
Pros: good benefits package and pension scheme
As well as the daily administrative tasks opening post and checking emails for partners and managers, even though you plan a to do list for the next day occassionally a manager would give you a task which would keep you busy for hours sometime days, therefore you had to be organised to complete all what was required in a timely manner . I liked the – more... variety of work my position offered within the firm and the personnel and clients that I worked with, and having been there a long time I met a lot of people many of which are still good friends. – less

A typical day
Trainee Accountant (Current Employee), Bloemfontein – March 4, 2013
Pros: friday working hours till 1pm
Cons: salary is a bit low.
A typical day at work comprises of compiling financial statements for source documentation provided by the client and possibly following up on SARS with regard to any outstanding tax queries.

I have learnt how to compile excell financial statements and CaseWare financial statements as well as how to process a bank statement on Paste.

The work environment – more... amongst co - workers is awesome and productive, the hardest part of my job would be getting along with each and every manger and understanding their various ways of doing the same thing.

The most enjoyable part of my job is meeting the deadline and delivering a quality product and service to the client. – less
