About Property Management
Merit was founded in the early 1980s by Melinda Masson to handle the complex range of services required by the growing number of homeowner associations. Today, Merit is one of the largest companies of its kind in the United States and the largest in California. The company is headquartered in Mission Viejo, California, and also has several strategically – more... placed regional offices throughout the state: San Diego, San Ramon, Temecula, and Valencia.
The homebuilding industry is in the midst of an exciting and important shift in focus, as it combines the need to build homes with a desire to help residents establish and maintain a true sense of community. The Merit Companies has been a pioneer of this change, having created customized management programs that have become synonymous with community ideals. Merit knows that successfully integrating community values begins before nails touch wood and continues after all the families have moved in - providing an exciting opportunity for the property management industry to realign its focus from property management to community mangement.
To further a standard of professionalism in the Common Interest Development industry, Melinda Masson helped found the California Association of Community Managers (CACM), a statewide trade organization. Property managers of The Merit Companies are CCAM-certified. Merit proudly serves as an example of the industry's highest standards of honesty, integrity and fairness. Its ability to foresee and respond to the ever-changing needs of association boards of directors has helped make Merit a leader of an industry it is proud to have helped establish.
Merit's commitment to furthering the concept of community extends beyond the neighborhoods it manages. The company encourages the participation of its staff in various charitable causes and community-based activities. Some of these include providing pro bono management services for an abused women's shelter and for a Habitat for Humanity housing development; collecting food and raising money for needy families; and building homes through Home Aid. – less – More from ZoomInfo »
