Position: Operations Manager
Department: Operations
Location: 99 Signet Drive, Toronto
Shift: Afternoons
Reporting to: Director, Operations
Target start date: November 15, 2013

Role: This position is responsible for managing the day to day operations of the facility, on the afternoon shift. The successful candidate is a highly motivated, self-directed individual capable of multi-tasking with a high level of personal and professional ethics.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Manage, coach and develop a team consisting of warehouse Team Leaders, Material Handlers and Logistics Processors in am unionized working environment
  • Responsible for ensuring Service Level Agreements (SLA’s) and daily Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) are met
  • Responsible for managing the operation within budget guidelines
  • Responsible for ensuring a safe, secure and fair work environment for all team members
  • Manage operational processes ensuring all clients’ requirements are consistently met and processes are up to date
  • Responsible for ensuring that processes, and changes are effectively deployed to ensure continuity of operational performance and client satisfaction
  • Manages scope of responsibility through assigning and scheduling resources, monitoring deliverables and adjusting approach when required
  • Lead and support the team in their involvement in continuous improvement (CI) initiatives to meet targets
  • Ensure company policies are communicated, applied and upheld by all team members
  • Accountable for client satisfaction by providing high quality service and work ethic while representing Progistix
  • Foster a positive working environment for internal and external customers
  • Other related duties or projects as required to meet the needs of the business

Qualifications include:

  • Post-Secondary education in Logistics, Supply Chain Management or related discipline is preferred
  • Minimum 5 years’ managerial experience in a high volume 3PL environment managing and developing high performance teams
  • Demonstrated ability to execute results against strategy and meet critical deadlines
  • Ability to effectively communicate, both oral and written, and interface with peers
  • A hands-on management approach that encourages change and creative problem solving
  • Proven ability to manage in an unionized environment
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and decision making skills
  • Proven experience in performance management
  • Proven ability to create, manage and maintain strong customer relationships
  • Very organized individual capable of multi-tasking and remaining calm under stressful circumstances
  • Flexible with scheduling to meet the needs of the business
  • Thrive in a fast-paced, continually evolving environment
  • Practical experience with RF technology and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and SAP
