Healthcare Assistant (Current Employee), Rainow MacclesfieldFebruary 19, 2014
Pros: wonderful family
Cons: non i can think of, apart from all the pet hairs!!
I care for an 86yr old lady with Alzheimer's, 4 dogs and a cat.

This included personal care, meds, meal prep, companionship and all other needs as appropriate. For both client and her animals.

My managers are the extended family of the client and a care agency is also employed. These I would class as my co workers.

The hardest part of the job is – more... that the client doesn't necessarily know why you are there. Why you are helping her with personal care tasks.

The most enjoyable part of the job is how appreciative and grateful my client is and what a joy she is. Also when she remembers things I have said it is a wonderful feeling. – less

Work as Au Pair (Former Employee), London, High BarnetFebruary 7, 2014
Pros: excellent environment and treat.
Cons: during the time a was there, the family went through a difficult situation.
I felt at my ease from the beginning. After the year I spent with them, specially with the mother and the children, with who I created a very close relationship, I could feel as part of the family. I still see them every few weeks and I feel them as my English family.

Full Time Nanny (Former Employee), Alexandria, VAJanuary 27, 2014
Pros: great hours and fantastic employer's.
Cons: no healthcare, no opportunity for career advancement.
I had a lot of control over the child’s daily activities, meals and educational projects. I created a weekly itinerary for the child, and consistently engaged with her in a way that would assist in her development. Because of my previous experience in childcare, my employers relied on me for guidance with any behavioral issues that would arise with – more... their child. I would communicate with them both via phone and email on a daily basis to go over our daily activities and to exchange ideas on different lesson plans and activities for the coming days. Reliability is paramount in childcare. – less

Nanny (Former Employee), woodbridge vaJanuary 22, 2014
Pros: summer fun
Cons: nothing
This was a full time summer job. I made great money and it was 8 hour days with two children. I was responsible for caring for these kids and making sure they had food on the table for breakfast and lunch, entertaining then throughout the day, and taking them places so responsible for the lives of these two girls in my car. I made it fun but always – more... very serious when it came down to their safety. I did it for two years going to there mothers house and fathers house every other week switching off. They were a lot of fun and once they got old enough to watch themselves, it was hard to leave them. – less

babysitter while going to school (Former Employee), GermanyJanuary 14, 2014
This job was a part-time job. I knew the child since he was a baby. I could take care of him for 3 to 5 hours whenever the parents would go out. It was the best child i had to take care of. He was easy and clear about what he wanted or not. It was fun to paint with him, watch Television, play with the toys and even picking up afterwards.
The hardest – more... part of this job was when i had to leave and he would get sad because he had fun with me around. I enjoyed every second that I spent with him. – less

Personal Assistant/ Nanny (Former Employee), Santa Clarita, CAJanuary 10, 2014
I would come in answer phone calls, answer emails, fill out paperwork, make deliveries, and handle customers. I learned how to communicate with customers. The management was ok. My co- workers were great. I think the hardest part of the job was the fact that its wasn't really in a field that I wanted to pursue.. The most enjoyable part of the job was – more... customer satisfaction. – less

Made me feel I was doing something very worthwhile
Support Worker (Former Employee), Keith, SCTDecember 24, 2013
Pros: was my own boss
Cons: many changes in recent times
Very fond of my client. We got along very well and had a lot of fun together She trusted me and that made things a lot easier for me as when your client trusts you they are a lot more co-operative.
I also got on well with the family in general and was happy to help out by training up all the new carers that arrived. The hardest part of the job was the – more... structure of times when I was needed which kept changing and my hours kept changing so I was getting paid for the hours I did but really had to be available for a lot more hours. The most enjoyable part of the job was working on my own and running my own show although I dont mind having the company of other carers sometimes. Everyday was different. I learnt more about myself. – less
