The Interior Designer will work with the ASP design firm and clients to conceptualize and produce aesthetic, functional and safe designs for interior spaces in residential, commercial, institutional and industrial buildings.
Consult and confer with Principles, Architects, and Clients to determine factors affecting planning interior environments, such as budget, architectural preferences, and purpose and function; determine needs, preferences, safety requirements and purpose of space.
Prepare presentational and marketing materials consisting of presentation boards, key plans, special layouts, etc...
Generate technical information with minimal guidance and supervision
Develop detailed plans and 3-D models showing arrangement of walls, dividers, displays, lighting and other fixtures using computer-assisted design (CAD) software and graphics software
Develop plans, elevations, cross sections and detailed drawings, and advise on selection of colours, finishes and materials, floor and wall coverings, interior and exterior lighting, furniture and other items, taking into account ergonomic and occupational health standards
Estimate costs and materials required and may advise on leasing, real estate and marketing
Prepare plans and specifications for the final interior designs in accordance with current practices and codes
Prepare progress reports and follow-up on deliveries to project completion
Work in a multidisciplinary environment
May direct site work crews and subcontractors.

Set up and maintain head office showroom

Knowledge of current interior design techniques and processes; interior products, building materials and finishes.
Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or related field.
Understanding of Ontario Building Code (OBC)
Minimum 10+ years practical work experience in the interior design field.
Highly proficient in AutoCAD, with ability to create drawings.
Proficient in 3D Modeling Programs, including Sketch-Up and rendering software - 3D Studio Max, Rhino, Revit (nice to have), V-Ray, etc...
Hand on experience in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, etc…
Experience in hand sketching skills.
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, and independently as projects/tasks dictate.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and confident making presentations.
A university degree/ college diploma in interior design
Creative ability and artistic talent, as demonstrated by a portfolio of work is required.
Registration with the Association of Registered Interior Designers of Ontario (ARIDO), or working towards registration.
