Experienced cook required for camp kitchen serving 100-200 clients daily. We offer excellent wages, full benefits package, and opportunity for rapid advancement. We operate a fully equipped and professional kitchen in a remote location in northern BC, working 10 hour days on a 22 day in / 11 day out schedule. Your return transportation to camp will be provided from Vancouver, Kelowna, Prince George, Smithers, or Terrace.
We're looking for an experienced cook who is comfortable working either independently or as part of a team, taking direction from first cook and kitchen management. She or he should be comfortable assisting with menu planning and designing daily specials, and have experience both in prep and line service. The nature of camp work requires that this person have excellent interpersonal skills, handle stress well, and be able to live and work as a member of a team.
-2 years’ experience in either camp or restaurant kitchens.
-able to design, prepare, and serve breakfast and lunch menus solo
-able to assist in all areas of meal prep: vegetable, protein, baking, sauces, etc.
-excellent communication skills, able to follow directions and provide assistance as needed
-self-motivated and able to work independently while maintaining high standards of service
-able to manage inventory and maintain prep
Physical aspects of position:
- Constant standing and walking throughout shift
- Frequent lifting and carrying up to 30 lbs.
- Occasional kneeling, pushing, pulling
- Occasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs and ramps
