ISP NETWORK SERVICES TECHNICIAN (8 mo. TERM)
Full-Time & On Call Weekend Pay
Winnipeg

PRAIRIEMOBILE COMMUNICATIONS, a leading supplier of wireless communications products with 19 branches across the Prairies and NW Ontario, has an immediate opening for a full time Service Technician at our Faithfull Avenue branch in Saskatoon.

Specific Responsibilities of the Network Services Technician are:

  • Tower Climbing
  • Deploy routers, switches and other networking equipment to carry and prioritize merged data traffic including but not limited to voice and video
  • Establish security protocols, firewalls, content filters and other aspects of network security
  • Deploy and maintain network monitoring tools
  • Evaluate customer requirements in regards to network bandwidth, jitter and latency
  • Perform network intrusion and performance analysis and troubleshoot performance degradation issues

Two-way Radio and Wireless Systems

  • Generate path analysis studies and coverage maps
  • Maintain, configure and install wireless microwave backbone radio and antenna systems for wireless internet and backhaul

Qualifications

  • High Angle Rescue & Working At Elevation courses mandatory
  • Must have tower climbing training and experience
  • Network Monitoring, knowledge of electrical circuit, IP Networks, WAN/LAN technology, routing, switching and DNS/DHCP essential
  • Basic equipment and network connectivity troubleshooting skills
  • Knowledge of Cisco and Linux routers and network security; GIS and mapping software; Industry Canada rules and regulations in regards to frequency bands licensing and maximum radiated power; Navigation Canada rules and regulations in regards to tower heights and permit request procedures; RF modulation, RF propagation, tower structures, antennas and masts, and RF propagation properties;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook is essential
  • Ability to lift/carry/push/pull up to a maximum of 50 pounds
  • Experience with Ubiquiti, Mikrotik, Waverider and Cisco are an asset

Must have a valid Manitoba driver’s license and be able to travel to work sites
