This company was fast paced and demanding. You had shipping schedules to meet. You had to make a product that met OEM standards in safety for the customers that bought the vehicle.

Transition from Akzo Nobel to PPG was pretty smooth
Customer Service Representative (Former Employee), Strongsville, OHMay 24, 2014
Was working for Akzo Nobel when PPG acquired our Architectural Coatings business and moved it to their HQ in Pittsburgh, PA. Since only there one year it is difficult to answer this question other than to say, under the circumstances they made it a fair place to work. A typical day at work would have been to train the personnel from PA that were going – more... to be needing to learn our systems, etc.in order to do the job. Which was also the hardest part of the job. – less

I was caught up in the buy out between Akzonobel and PPG in 2013
Outside Sales Representative (Former Employee), Jacksonville, FLApril 23, 2014
Pros: did not work with ppg long enough to form an option
Cons: cheap paying their employees
During the buy out between AkzoNobel and PPG, PPG kept their sales force and got rid of most of the AkzoNobel dba Glidden sales force.

Good job to get machinery experience
Machine Operator (Current Employee), Carlisle, PAApril 10, 2014
Pros: friendly people
Cons: swing shift
A typical day of work consists of operating either a packer or running the stacking cranes. I have learned a lot when dealing with heavy machinery. The management is usually in tune and responsive. There are hectic days when people are running around wild but they always get it figured out in a timely manner. My co-workers are very helpful and great – more... to work with. The hardest part of the job is the swing shift schedule. The most enjoyable part of the job is you can get a lot of opportunities with fork lifts, pack trucks, and other heavy machinery. – less

Intern (Former Employee), Chillicothe, OHMarch 19, 2014
This was an internship for a one time project of collecting vendor tax identification information. I learned to find information creatively, either on the internet or on other search engines. I also learned to treat customers with respect. The hardest part of the job was when it was over. This is a truly wonderful place to learn and work.

High Staff Turnover,Poor managment
Sales Assistant (Former Employee), Dundee, SCTFebruary 21, 2014
Pros: none this is a dead end job
Cons: long hours, minimum wage
This company are only interested in maximum profit for as little staff as the can legally have to run the place
Expect minimum wage, long hours, being told to do jobs well out with your pay grade and for little reward
You will find training is mostly on line based
You may be required to cover other branches at cost to you but you can claim this back,the – more... current system takes months
You will also have to face lone working with no help

This firm do not pay overtime so any extra work will be classed as lieu time you can take,if there is someone who can cover for you!

Another part of this job is cold telephone calling, you will find you are calling up former customers who left because PPG this is because PPG stealthily push up poor account customers prices for poor sales performance

You will also see this job advertised on a month to month basis because of they way people are treated, the Dundee job centre are fully aware of this. – less
