Lead Hand (Former Employee), 885 Avonhead Rd. Mississaug, Ontario.October 29, 2013
Pros: access to intranet service within ppg over other personal.
Cons: limited to access regarding the internet.
Assign work to pickers. Print copies of shipping documents. Interact on telephone with customer service personal. Interact with shipping companies and organize shipments. Interact with management. Receive documents before allowing unloading of materials by warehouse personal. Deal with problems and solve them. I enjoyed the interaction and leadership – more... roles. Brain storming with management about improvements in regards to shipments, safety, productivity, etc. – less

Productive and rewarding place at PPG Industries
Lineman (Former Employee), 3333 S. Peach Ave. Fresno, CA 93725August 5, 2014
Pros: the pay was very good and the fellow employees were helpful.
Cons: the weekly work-shift changes were hard to get used to. the first week would be a day shift, second week would be swing shift and third week would be a graveyard shift.
A typical day at work was being assigned to a work station and making sure the product was stacked correctly without any breakage. I learned how to operate machinery to fulfill my job task as far as operating and maintaining machinery that automatically stacked glass and operated a special forklift that transferred large sheets of glass from one place – more... to another.
Management made sure things ran smoothly during the work-shift. I found that people in management knew their job well and had been working for the company for 15 to 25 years.
My co-workers were very helpful in supporting me while I was employed and very friendly The majority of them had been working there for over 20 years and were getting ready to retire. The hardest part of the job was working double shifts when I was picked. Especially if I had worked the graveyard shift that night.
The most enjoyable part of job was working with fellow employees who were of help and support and receiving a weekly paycheck. – less

Management is the worst at Fairburn location
Warehouse worker (Current Employee), Fairburn, GAAugust 4, 2014
Pros: decent benefits
Cons: very small pay raises, poor management
The Fairburn location has the worst management in charge. In no way should you expect management to have your back at all. This site is not union and there is no HR dept on site. They do things very shady at this location Be Very Aware. This site is full of temps with extensive backgrounds.

Commercial Store Operations Manager (Current Employee), Lake Buena Vista, FLJuly 28, 2014
The work work you do, the more you get out of it. Although working with fumes 9-10 hours a day is not ideal. Which is normal since almost every store has 2 people in it.

Great People, but too old school and top heavy
Cost Accountant (Current Employee), Multiple OfficesJuly 23, 2014
Pros: great coworkers/company culture, opportunity to advance, frequent relocation
Cons: micro managed, top heavy, lack of concern for employee
PPG does a great job of hiring people with an easy going personality. So far I've met very few people who are difficult to work with. If you want to move around (selling point for a recent grad) PPG moves people all over, and their relocation package is solid.

The downside, upper management is always asking for feedback, but never follow up once they – more... get it. – less

Pros: good honest hard work, great compensation.
Cons: heat.
It was a great job but the only con was the heat. Regardless of the season it was boiling. The employees were decent and the work was hard.

Warehouseman/Forklift Operator/retired (Former Employee), Circleville, OHJune 26, 2014
Pros: we had a summer activities that was paid for
Cons: hard work and alot of heavy lifting
I worked nonstop except for breaks. I learned you are a team and must work together as one. If you were asked by management to do something you went ahead without compliant and did the job.
The hardest part was trying to do the job completely in the time
allotted. The most enjoyable was working with your fellow
employees that you admired.

Friendly place to work
Intern (Former Employee), Batavia, ILJune 25, 2014
A typical day at work consisted of either sorting out pallets of recalled paint, running the a filtration system for paint manufacture and assist employees on the assembly line. Occasionally, meetings would take place and I would have to set up chairs for these meetings.

The most enjoyable part of this job were the coworkers. They were very friendly – more... and made for a more enjoyable work day. – less
