We are currently seeking a part-time leading into full-time Job Developer for Contract position, to work with adults and youth with cognitive, physical and learning disabilities and/or mental health challenges. As a Job Developer you will assist in assessing clients strengths and abilities, marketing clients to employers and providing job coaching support once employed. The Job Developer will also provide support with employment retention and self-sufficiency. This position will be performed out of our Victoria, Sooke, Langford and Sidney offices
Assessing clients’ strengths and skills for employment utilizing assessment tools, interviews and meeting with client and their support network
Networking with employers: Arrange for interviews; educate the employer about the benefits of hiring clients with disabilities; create job opportunities.
Instructing client in job seeking, application procedures; resume writing, interview preparation and job retention skills and attitudes.
Preparing job search portfolios and applications including writing resumes and cover letters.
Monitoring performance and coaching client on the job site.
Working with clients to improve job performance to gain necessary job skills or reviewing other employment options.
Maintaining constant contact with employer and client and reporting results to appropriate staff.
Meeting clients at interviews, job fairs, and other organizations.
Preparing forms and assessment reports.
Tracking client activity and progress data and record and report to appropriate staff.
The ideal candidate will have:
Knowledge and experience working with adults and you with a wide range of disabilities and mental health challenges. The ideal candidate will also possess client assessment and interview capabilities, accurate report writing procedures plus have experience writing resume and cover letters. The position requires that the selected candidate is comfortable marketing and networking with employers to secure appropriate job placements. The chosen candidate must have a flexible schedule in order to provide on the job coaching as required. A reliable vehicle is a must. The selected candidate must be willing to start out part-time and work into full-time and be familiar with contract work.
