Plastics Fabricators / Machinists
Based in our Stittsville fabrication / manufacturing site you will quickly become a capable team player on our shop floor. We have a great team with a lot of experience in a demanding fast-paced environment. We expect a lot from each other but we also support each other and know how to develop our skills and have fun while getting a lot of high quality work safely delivered on time or ahead of time to our many customers. We know we have a good thing going here and we don’t just bring anyone in to just simply get the work done – every new hire has to add to our positive culture and environment. If it’s not good for our safety, quality, profitability and delivery on our commitments to our customers, suppliers and each other, then we’re not doing it. Type of Employment: Permanent, Full Time, Day Shift. No or few weekends.
Salary: Starting at $14 to 20 per hour for 40 hours per week, depending on experience.
Bonus: We offer bonuses based on personal performance and company financial performance.
Promotion: We hire with no pre-conceived notions. Anyone with the right stuff contributing over time can climb as high as they wish.
Education: Not required but technical related training considered an asset.
Credentials (certificates, licenses, etc.): Not required. Considered an asset if related to the job.
Experience: 3 years or more with Plastic or Metals Fabrication and Manufacturing.
Languages: Speak English, Read English, Write English. Other languages considered an asset.
Work Setting: General manufacturing and fabrication. Lean manufacturing considered an asset.
Type of Machine Experience: CNC required, with some Conventional necessary. We plan to add new technologies.
Machining Tools and Machines: CNC table router machines, Drill presses, lathes, CNC Milling machines, Shapers, Single purpose production machines.
Measuring Tools: Micrometers, Calipers, Gauges
Weight Handling: Up to 23 kg (50 lbs)
Fabrication (machining, cutting, forming, bending, gluing, welding, polishing) of all sorts of Plastics.
Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, charts and tables.
Set up and adjust production machinery and fixtures.
Fit and assemble components and machine parts to close tolerance.
Verify dimensions of machined tools and parts using precision measuring instruments.
Document and report deviations from specifications and tolerances.
Maintain inspection records and complete inspection reports.
Additional Skills as an Asset:
Knowledge of Plastics – types, chemistry, mechanics, pricing.
Experience with Quality Systems.
Lean Manufacturing and Inventory Management.
Able to travel off-site for welding and other services as required.
Able to deal face-to-face with Customers.
Can assist / work on Quotes.
Other languages welcomed.
Steel-toed safety boots. Replacements and other tools will be provided.
Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities:
Environment can be noisy and dusty. Mainly inside but may go off-site and outside at times.
Fast-paced environment with lots of human interaction at times.
Work day may be entirely repetitive for brief periods and entirely variable for other periods.
Must have can-do attitude and work efficiently while not sacrificing safety or quality at any time.
Own transportation, Valid driver's license
