The Planning Assistant is organized and able to manage multiple tasks at a time. You will play an important role both externally and internally. As a key member of the Sales and Marketing team, you will have a valuable role in business development through outreach to potential clients, and in particular engineering firms. Internally, the Planning Assistant is vital in providing support for research projects, as well as organizing databases, documents, and upcoming proposals. At the end of your work term, you will be responsible for producing a final report on your work.
As PlaceSpeak’s Reserch & Planning Assistant, you will be responsible for:
Monitoring bid boards for request for proposals (RFPs) in Canada, as well as in the USA
Outreach to potential clients through emails and phone calls
Managing contact information through the CRM database Insightly
Support and work with the Development Team on Open Data projects. In particular, you will be responsible for managing Open Data scrapers and pushing GIS files to GitHub
Providing research support on projects
Tracking and organizing upcoming tradeshows and conferences
Preparing documents for business development including the development of case studies
Assist customers with topic set up and promotional checkist
BA or higher in geography, political science or a planning-related discipline at the university level.
Knowledge of the municipal planning and development and/or public consultation processes.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
Optional but preferred:
Familiarity with PlaceSpeak or other public engagement platforms.
Experience with CRM software, particularly Insightly.
Familiarity with Skype, Google Chat, Google Hangouts, and Google Docs.
Expertise in areas related to PlaceSpeak, such as public engagement or GIS.
