As Restaurant General Manager, you are responsible for the results of the business, which includes everything inside the four walls, the financials, the morale of the employees, the morale of the guests and how well all the parts of the operation work together. The successful candidate will ensure the delivery of gold standard service to our guests while meeting targets, achieving goals and controlling costs. A natural coach and leader, the candidate will rely on their interpersonal skills, organizational and management skills to deliver these results.
§ Responsible for providing leadership in the restaurant - recognizing and motivating Shift Leaders, Shift Managers and Team Members; coaching and training the team in order to achieve operational excellence
§ Ensure restaurant team maintains the highest possible level of customer service
§ Control profit and loss by ensuring management team follows cash control/security procedures, maintains inventory, manages labour, reviews financial reports and takes action when appropriate
§ Involve management team in developing and communicating an action plan to achieve productivity targets (inventory control, labour costs, etc.) for individual restaurant
§ Ensure maintenance of equipment, facility and grounds meets corporate standards
§ Ensure adherence to Occupational Health and Safety Act, local health and safety codes and company safety/ security policies and procedures
§ Lead the process of recruiting and selecting qualified, high energy team members while ensuring use of approved systems and tools
§ Conduct all restaurant management and team member performance appraisals
§ Responsible for payroll compliance, employee reviews and disciplinary action
§ Ensure complete and timely execution of corporate and local marketing programs and new products/promotion rollouts
§ Direct all aspects of food preparation, including cold prep, cooking, storage and disposal of food. Also ensuring that orders are being completed timely and served properly
§ Identify and resolve bottlenecks in food preparation to increase speed of service
§ Set challenging goals for self and crew during shift and ensure accountability
§ Help to remove performance barriers and provide resources for crew and restaurant to perform well
§ High School Diploma or equivalent
§ Minimum of 3 years’ management or supervisor experience in the restaurant industry
§ Strong leadership skills; you sincerely value customers and champion teamwork
§ Ability to develop and coach team to continued career success
§ Solid computer application skills (Word, excel, POS systems)
§ Dedicated to teamwork with strong organizational and analytical skills
§ Shift work required, including evenings, weekends and holidays. Managers may work long hours to compensate for staffing issues, and must sometimes change their work schedule on short notice.
