YOUR ROLE:

Working within a clinical team of professionals including Behaviour Consultants, Speech Therapists and Neurofeedback Trainers, you will help individuals achieve independence, while improving well-being and overall life satisfaction.

Pivot Point’s therapeutic approach is based in Applied Behaviour Analysis which includes data-driven programming and measurable results. Clients receive individualized intervention programs which are executed by the various members of the clinical team.

Your role in the multi-disciplinary clinical team will be to:

  • Work in a consultative manner to ensure a comprehensive training program
  • Conduct initial assessments
  • Draft assessment reports
  • Make recommendations for programming and ongoing treatments, including determining if the client:

o Is a strong candidate for your ongoing OT support (in which case you may be assigned more service hours to enable this work)
o Would benefit from OT based programming delivered by Pivot Point’s ABA therapists with some monitoring from an OT
o Is not a candidate for any OT support at this time

  • Liaise with the family and other team members to ensure that everyone understands the OT treatment vision and plan and how to use the tools and protocols
  • Support the purchasing of augmentative and training tools (OT related program supplies)

QUALIFICATIONS:

Desired qualifications in your role as an OT:

  • Minimum 2 years experience working as an OT
  • Minimum 1 year experience in data-driven, ABA program development and evaluation
  • Minimum 3 years experience in working with individuals with disabilities
  • Understanding of a variety of disabilities across all ages and corresponding best practices

Desired qualifications in your role as a clinical team member:

  • Proven ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of people and to work effectively as part of a team
  • Commitment to the care, well-being and overall success of clients
  • Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary
  • Access to computer for daily login
  • Computer literacy

Required qualifications in your role as an OT:

  • Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy
  • Proof of successful completion of the National Occupational Therapy Certification Examination (NOTCE)
  • Proof of registry with the College of Occupational Therapists of BC (COTBC)
  • Professional Liability Insurance for the minimum amount recommended by the COTBC ($1 million per occurrence as of February 1st, 2014)
