Job profile: Responsible to the Research and Development Manager, you will undertake high temperature application design and development activities in the creation of downhole pressure and temperature gauges for the Oil and Gas industry, specifically as applied to SAGD Monitoring. This is a dynamic, multi-project environment in which you will be focusing on the electronic interface, field application and manufacturing support.
Main Duties:
Work primarily in product development, design, or R&D
Assist in planning and conducting research, design and development of standard engineering assignments which will typically be a portion of a larger project
Select engineering techniques to solve problems and makes sound design recommendations
Assess results for applicability, validity and conformance to specifications
Responsible for analyzing data, draw wiring diagrams, system integration testing
Support building of development samples and undertaking of sample testing, including design and procurement of development test equipment
Assist in generating product, component and test specifications and supporting documentation
Handle special projects if needed, as assigned
Key Skills/Personal Characteristics:
Must have legal authorization to work in Canada on a full-time basis without restrictions
3 to 5 years' experience in electronics design, system integration, upstream oil and gas related experience preferred
Diploma or equivalent in a relevant discipline
Experience in control electronics design, validation techniques and requirements
A good understanding of electronics components and experience in the processes, assembly techniques and testing involved in the production
Demonstrated business acumen for economic recommendation of projects
Strong oral and written communication, organizational, and leadership skills complemented with a strong work ethic
Knowledge and some experience of typical electronic engineering tools (schematic capture, PCB design, simulation, mathematical analysis)
Experience in SAGD wellbore modeling, artificial lift systems, instrumentation, downhole tools and well completion technologies
Good understanding of SAGD well and facility operations
Familiarity or past experience with piezometers or thermocouple technology
